I'm not implying this gives him a pass for a failed test but I use a cream for seborrheic dermatitis (an incurable skin condition that comes out of nowhere) that contains steroids. I was told to not overuse the cream because it can thin my skin and that its steroid content could be damaging if I used too much too frequently.

I'm sure an elite athlete like Mendes wouldn't be ignorant to the fact that a cream containing steroids could cause a failed test so I guess everything I said is sorta irrelevant?

In his defence when I get flare ups I'm loading that stuff on wherever I've broken out to keep from clawing my body to shreds. Nothing but steroidal creams have relieved the maddening irritation for me so if Mendes has a similar condition it could be possible that he's telling the truth. For those that have never had their skin turn on them I don't expect you to understand but when every waking moment is hell you lather that **** on thick to get relief.

Huh.

Yeah, it's an interesting defense. It would explain his, "I didn't do my homework, and I take responsibility" comment.

As you say, the doctors would mention it, thought, and it seems totally improbable that he would be unaware.

So I'm not sure where that leaves us!

Seems like he definitely does have skin issues:

IDK if this belongs here or the ufc200 thread, but does anyone have thoughts on the Mark Hunt rants? Man, he has been going after the ufc like no active fighter on the roster ever has. I think he's misguided though tbh.

"We'll let this f*cking white piece of sh*t f*cking stick needles in his ass and say, ‘oh, he's going to take us all the way to the f*cking bank.' Let's give him f*cking millions of dollars and not worry about this motherf*cker. You know what? F*ck that and f*ck your sh*t company. Look at that for a contract. You can sue me on that, motherf*ckers.

"People are scared for years because the company is going to get them," Hunt added. "Well, f*ck the company. They don't give a sh*t about you or anyone else. If I walk away now, I don't care. I walk away knowing that I haven't cheated to get in this spot. I can keep my head [up] and say, you know, I might have to make a lot of different sacrifices to change the way things are, but so be it. That's fine. At least I knew that I went to the top and all you find at the top are dirty f*cking scummy cheaters, and a company that's going to help them do it.

Although it is interesting to note that if USADA turned around the pre-fight drug tests as quickly as they turned around the fight night drug tests, then the ufc would have known about the failed test several days before ufc200.

I see his point, but I don't know what (if anything) he's hoping to accomplish with this. Drug testing has not led to him fighting clean opponents, and I really do think quick turn around on tests to pull fighters if they fail should be the goal.

It would be terrible if Mendes were actually clean, and had achieved that ridiculous physique without PEDs only to have that sacrifice tarnished.

I would not have actually guessed him a PED user either, in fact. Just given how tight-knit that team is, a user would be so obvious to so many. And no one on Alpha Male has otherwise ever been busted, to my recollection, so I imagine they don't have that South Florida culture. If you're smashing people in sparring and it's obvious that you're on something, you'll get hated on or called out, no one's going to be cool with it.

Are they the same tests?? Why is there the difference? Post-USADA, do the fight night tests come back so quick? They use to be 2-3 days, are they still?

I don't think the usada tests come back so quickly. Don't quote me, but I believe Lesnar's fight night test took 10-11 days to come back, whereas the out of competition test took ~16 days to come back. So again if the out of competition test had been processed as quickly as the fightnight one, Lesnar would have been pulled from 200.

These test results gotta star coming in quicker.

I don't know exactly what the process entails but I'd bet my life that it doesn't require urine to stay mixed with another solution for days. This is all a matter of samples sitting around before somebody gets to them.

If the UFC were serious about keeping PED out of the sport they would cover the costs of a few lab technicians who immediately start testing samples to get the results back ASAP to ensure nobody is fighting a juiced up monster.

Imagine if Brock had killed Hunt or Jones had killed Cormier. The sport would take a hit that it may never recover from. Like I said earlier this isn't cycling or baseball, peoples lives are at risk. With the exceptions of boxing, auto racing and maybe football it's the most dangerous sport on the planet and everything possible should be done to make it less dangerous. Guys being bigger, stronger, faster and more aggressive than they would be without PEDs is a bad thing for the sport.

I'd have more sympathy for Hunt if he didn't sign up to fight Brock Lesnar for the payday of his life. He knew what he was dealing with. He just thought he'd knock him out anyway.

Doesnt change the fact that Brock was stupid enough to fail two times.

Hunt took his loss and Brock whooped his ass before he failed the drug tests, no excuses.

It really shows alot about the Mma fans VS the Ufc fans or Wwe with how ppl have responded to the Hunt thing.

I can see a case for the Chinese pumping roids into their livestock to meet demand.

I've never heard of the same being done for kanagroos
