UFC 191 (9/5): Johnson vs. Dodson II

Post#1 » by CPT » Fri Jul 24, 2015 5:59 am

Just looking at MMAJunkie's rumors section and updating/creating some threads...how is this one 6 weeks away with only 5 announced fights?

Demetrious Johnson vs. John Dodson for flyweight title
Jan Blachowicz vs. Anthony Johnson
Alex Chambers vs. Paige VanZant
John Lineker vs. Francisco Rivera
Nazareno Malegarie vs. Joaquim Silva

I believe Jan/Rumble was already announced as the co-main.

Mighty Mouse is the most dominant P4P fighter right now... and he rarely is placed on a card with name support so casuals can see how special he is. Sucks.

Love Dodson's body shots, some of my fave in the sport. Hella fast too, can't wait.

I would be so much more hyped for this if Dodson didn't look so bad in his last fight. His knee is still hurt, 100%. Even when asked about it he doesn't even pretend like its not, says depressing statements like he just takes it one day at a time or just tries not to think about it, etc. It sucks because the first fight was very good and very competitive.

Mouse smashes him now.

Riiiiiight, forgot about his knee. I didn't see the Makovsky fight.

If his explosiveness is hampered, yeah, Mighty Mouse all day.

Mir/Arlovski on tap for this event. I have to say as a Mir fan, this is about the best thing that could happen. Arlovski may be the biggest name that Mir could actually beat I think. A guy like Rothwell is a terrible matchup.

I thought the ufc would give Arlovski the title shot. Either Werdum is out awhile or they are going with Stipe.

I just don't see Mighy Mouse losing in this division.

Cejudo has potential, but I'm not sure he's ready for Benavidez. Anyways, Might Mouse got knocked down twice by Dodson and probably should have lost that Uncle Creepy fight. He'll lose eventually.

If DJ wins this fight and TJ beats Cruz (or Cruz can't get healthy), this is the perfect time for the TJ vs. Mighty Mouse super fight.

It's not always easy to say if it's because of age or not.

Agreed.

The Cejudo fight isn't interesting to me at all. Cejudo is probably closer to his last opponent Chico than he is to Mouse.

Cejudo is just scratching the surface of what he can be, and his wrestling can give MM problems. The last guy to give MM problems was Ian McCall, because he got on top and held him down. Cejudo has the potential to execute that game plan better than anyone at 125. I'm not saying he will beat Johnson, but if anyone can, it's him.

Felder vs Pearson added here.

1) Surprised Felder is getting back in there so quickly after that war with Barboza.
2) Four weeks notice for this fight is weird.
3) IDK if this is going to go well for Pearson.
