Solid addition.

Some decent stuff on this card, but I could see the fights being kind of slow. Wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of decisions.

I think the top 3 fights have mass appeal

Bader vs Evans is a match up we've yet to see and both guys have some name recognition among casual fans

Personally, I'm looking forward to it as well

Both are strong guys with a wrestling back ground, Bader a little bigger, Evans a little quicker

It should be a good one

I think a lot of people are expecting a better fight from Gus than he will have because of how well he did in his Jones fight. I don't think Cormier is going to relent at all on trying to take him down, and he's going to slam him or get him to the ground much earlier and more often than Jones did or tried to do.

Can't think of many fighters who have gained as much for a loss as Gus has.

http://www.mmafighting.com/2015/8/17/9166003/ufc-192-fight-card-gets-joseph-benavidez-vs-ali-bagautinov-angela

The Houston Chronicle reports a flyweight bout between Joseph Benavidez and Ali Bagautinov as well as a women's strawweight contest between Angela Hill and Rose Namajunas will now take place at that event.

What happened to Benavidez/Cejudo?

So I guess Cejudo is fighting Formiga at FN 78, Brown vs. Gastelum.

I'm thinking they figured they shouldn't derail Cejudo already.

That makes sense, but wouldn't it also have made since 2 months ago when they said Benavidez/Cejudo was going to happen? Or why was that matchup everywhere it wasn't "official"?

IDK bro, I wish I knew why the ufc does lots of stuff that they do.

If you figure it out, let me know why the hell they made Cain/Werdum II while you're at it.

Dude, I can't even spell "sense" right twice in a sentence.

Actually though, a common theme here might be them trying to break into Mexico. They liked having Cain as a champ for that even though he couldn't fight often. And they're moving Cejudo to a Latin American TUF finale (that is still weird though, because if that's what they wanted, why not do that in the first place). Could be something behind the scenes we don't know about, like one of the fighters wanting a different fight.

And they seem especially eager to rematch title fights. I wonder if the misread fans here. They were going to do Lawler/Hendricks 3* and Dana was like "Don't you want to see that fight" but people were like "not really." The UFC really seems to like Cain, though they tried to do the same with Barao too and I doubt he was particular popular. The fight I wanted was Werdum/JDS, though I would have understood Arlovski because he was on a decent run (for HW) and it might his only shot at the title. I mean, what's the downside to letting Cain get a win (or two) before a rematch? Only that his persistent injuries might not let him do that for a lengthy period I guess.

* - Speaking of which that one was way more justifiable given that dubious decision and Hendricks' previous win.

Supposedly Cain wanted to fight on THIS card (in Houston where he is a draw) in October. UFC said no and now he will presumably fight several months later in December or January in a rematch that nobody wants to see.

Just dumbfounding. Why not give him a fight on this card? Is it because Bigfoot/JDS were both unavailable and they couldn't imagine having him fight someone other than those two?

I could see the UFC misinterpreting stats when it comes to rematches. Like they have a meeting where some guys interpreted stats and showed that rematches do well for PPV numbers...but they don't realize is that rematches used to happen when they were warranted and had a ton of buildup. Yeah, people were excited for Pettis vs. Henderson 2, Sonnen vs. Silva 2, and Edgar vs. Maynard 2 so the UFC looks at those numbers and thinks that they should make as many rematches as possible.

"Does Size Really Matter?" is their tagline. LOL. "5'11 Daniel Cormier against 6'5'' Aleksander..."

Gus best win is probably Matyushenko.

I would've said Manuwa, but maybe you're right. One thing for sure is he couldn't win the Bellator belt.

Please, 40 year old Matyushenko would "mop the floor" with Manuwa.

On a more serious note, I didn't realize Matyushenko was 40 when Gus beat him. IDK if Gus has a best win.
