On Fox tomorrow- Cowboy vs. RDA and JDS vs. Overeem

Post#1 » by NZB2323 » Fri Dec 18, 2015 8:45 pm

I didn't see a thread for this card.

Cowboy vs. RDA
JDS vs. Overeem
Michael Johnson vs. Nate Diaz
A woman's straweight fight

I think if we see the same RDA, Cowboy will have a hard time as a slow starter, but we'll have to see if the new drug rules affect RDA.

Oliveira misses weight by five pounds, third time in 8 fights for him. So unprofessional.

JDS vs Overeem is like the battle of the morphed bodies.

Second week in a row where a fight stopped due to eye pokes. First Kevin Casey and now Cole Miller. Miller unable to open his eye afterward.

Also Rogan still perpetuating the myth that Herb Dean isn't a buffoon. "Herb is the gold standard of reffing". LOL. Meanwhile, Chris Weidman's funeral is tomorrow.

Any idea why the graphic introduced Lentz as:

Lentz just got an insanity level throw on Castillo. Do yourself a favor and watch it on ufc's fb page.

I can't believe how much bigger Lentz is at 155 than 145. He is dominating this fight but keeps going for guillotines so Castillo ends up on top. IDK why dudes even try to choke these alpha male guys. Tony Ferguson spent 15 minutes trying to d'arce Castillo and couldn't do it, safe to say Lentz can't either.

Alpha Male on a huge skid after Mendes/Castillo/Palmer lost. Faber beat that guy that I'd never heard of, I guess.

Lentz talking about the weight cut and how much trouble he had making weight for 145. Said he had to be carried to the scale for his last fight and that he has had medical problems due to the cutting, said he is still trying to fix his body from it. If you recall, he originally hired Dolce to help him make 155 but Dolce told him that he would only work with him if he went to 145.

RE Samman vs Tamdan. Not all brown belts are created equally.

EDIT: case and point. :D

Tamdan should just shave his head. One of the saddest cases of bald denial I've seen.

If this website wasn't so glitchy, before that fight honest to God I was going to say +325 for Marquardt?!?!, you gotta get on that. I know Nate is over the hill, but it's C.B. Dolloway, not Yoel Roidmero.

Omg Nate just absolutely flatlined CB. It doesn't get any cleaner than that.

And then the follow up hammerfist was the most brutal thing I've seen since Mike Russow on Todd Duffee.

That was actually a bad performance by Barncat's standards, and he acknowledged that after the win. First round his movement was rather stiff, and instead of striking first, he was fishing for td's. That's not the norm for him when he's feeling confident and enjoying himself. Then he's fluidly putting combos together, until his opponent takes him down and he works from there. Then, on the ground he was recklessly fishing for subs that were never there, and opting for submission b4 position before position. Clear case of octagon re-debut jitters. But he fought through it, started to show confidence in his combos, and on the ground he was more keeping position then gnp'ing. Ultimately he succumbed again though and got swept just having a mental lapse. But he was starting to get his hips involved, going armbar look to triangle, and finally got the triangle thru. Then I liked how he stuck to the triangle instead of going triangle-armbar, creating space. Hate when guys switch usually. Stick with what's working. It was probably just a matter of time, patience, pulling down the head, and the right angle. I genuinely think Barncat has title potential.

Oliveira just moved up the ranks of the 150 lb weight class. Oh wait, that doesn't exist. I hope they let him rematch Holloway, doBronx got out before the inevitable beating last time.

Guys who claim they've invented their own form of jiu-jitsu like JoeJitsu and JuryJiuJitsu shouldn't be getting swam on and guillotined to death in fights. He could have gotten his head ripped off the way Oliveira was hanging on him. I guess OliJiuJitsu is going to be selling shirts and training videos now. Big devaluation of the JuryJiuJitsu brand and egg on his face after that fight. I don't feel a bit bad about it after that shameful performance against Cowboy where he just wanted to run and hold.

Yeah, it was just a question of head or gut.

But maybe if Conor is moving up already (ugh), Holloway will be tied up with Edgar fighting for the belt. What's happening there, are they allowing Conor fight for both belts (ugh) or is it a perma-move? If he's going to fight for the 155 lb title and vacate 145 already, the move should at least be permanent.

I still think UFC may reconsider letting Conor fight for 155 belt if RDA comes out and destroys Cerrone tonight. Also, Edgar came out today and called Conor out for avoiding him. He said you already chose to fight Mendes over me and now you want to move weight classes when I'm next?
