3 good fights on that main card so far! Poirier/Johnson will be a war, someone's getting KO'd late.

Rick Glenn finally gets a shot on this card. I know how long he has wanted a chance in the ufc, and he certainly deserves it so I am happy for him. Evan Dunham is a stiff test for a debut. I am happy that its at 155 though because 145 on short notice would be a killer weight cut for him.

Well, I said he should try to implement his gnp this fight actually, but Dunham is really good in the ground so I don't know. Dunham's mistake is often keeping the fight on the feet when he has a disadvantage. So Glenn should see if he has the advantage standing first. Dunham's power isn't much of a threat. Tough opponent and match-up for Glenn's debut. I think this will be a slobberknocker. Hopefully Glenn can slip a head kick through when they're exchanging in the pocket and Dunham isn't paying attention. Then he could use the nasty gnp to finish him off. Head trauma turns a black belt into a white belt.

Yea, both guys have a propensity for exciting fights. Should be interesting.

Glenn represented himself very poorly. He was stuffing his punches, not setting much up, not moving his head, not reacting to td attempts against. On the ground he was always a step or two behind, and physically controlled. I guess that's to be expected given Dunham's jits prowess and size advantage. But given he was moving up in weight and Glenn was always particularly tall for a fw, I don't know why he didn't just pack on some weight, or keep it on. He must walk around really skinny. Come the middle of the 2nd rd or so he was wobbly as hell. I couldn't tell if it was cardio or if he was badly hurt, because Dunham was landing so much, and the bigger man. Where were Duke or even Cush? All he really showed the masses in that fight who hadn't seen him before is heart. He should do much better next time out moving back down in weight and with more time to prepare. It's only up from there.

Muhammad was the Roufusport guy who impressed much more. Good setups to steer opponents into over-hands or quick head kicks on the head, and well-timed td's. But his opponent kind of sucked.

Johnson's hands and feet were too fast for Poirier. He'd step to an angle and hit him with a 2 or 3 piece technical combo on the counter, and when your opponent is coming in you usually supply the greater power. That spelled bad news for Poirier in this fight. I liked Johnson beforehand.

Brunson is a real contender. They need to start giving him name, legit opponents to test his level and build him up. He has a 5-fight win streak, but he's facing like all really underrated or overrated guys, and none that are deservedly all that high up the ladder. I like how he works to angles and delivers hammers. Solid defense and big power. It's especially impressive for a higher weight guy. He also comes from a wrestling background. Well-rounded guy. Was on his way to beating Romero. He needs to fights someone better than Whittaker. Vitor-Mousasi winner more like.

Rick doesn't train out of rufousport and hasn't for well over a year now. They still get credit on all the telecasts, etc. but he left them between the Palmer loss and his last wsof fight.

RE, the packing on weight part. He only had about two weeks (or even less) notice. That is part of the reason his conditioning didn't look the best (the other part being Dunham's pressure and striking).

Rick is good on the ground, every bit of the brown belt that he has, but Dunham is legit high level black. I think it was expected that he would be a step behind on the ground and I think that showed last night. Nice job from Rick to escape thathea and arm and especially that RNC though.

His striking looked really rigid. Look at the contrast in how relaxed and loose Dunham's shoulders are as opposed to Rick's mechanical, rigid posture. Guy is tough as sh*t though. And that fight of the night bonus is huge for him. Hopefully he gets some notice before his next fight and can fight at 145.

Maybe he should go back, like Chico. His last two performances were poor, whatever the circumstances.

If you're going to compete in MMA, and live in the Milwaukee area, Duke Roufusport is far and away the best option. Obviously I don't know the circumstances of his departure or necessity to live in Milwaukee, though. If there's a rift, he could always train with the Pettis' at their own gym. Pettis must have some power at this point to not just placate Duke. After all, he did start his own gym, and he's still the headliner at Duke's.

Pettis is asking for Michael Johnson now, or Aldo. I don't like either of those fights for him, but Aldo would be far superior because at least it would be high reward. Johnson would be highish risk, low reward. Don't see the point. I'd want him to hound Holloway or Edgar, otherwise just let the UFC decide. Don't orchestrate your own potential downfall, again.
