I'll watch this one for Pettis/Smolka (despite being a huge fan of both), the main event, and Brooks.

I was hoping they'd push Brooks harder.

John Lineker, two others miss weight at UFC Fight Night 96 weigh-ins

John Lineker joined Anthony Johnson in the most unfortunate kind of way on Friday, becoming only the second UFC fighter alongside Johnson to miss weight in two separate UFC divisions. A former flyweight, Lineker tipped the scales at 136.5 pounds at UFC Fight Night 96's official weigh-ins in Portland, OR, coming in a half-pound overweight for his headlining bout against John Dodson.

The situation marks the fifth time that the Brazilian has missed weight under the UFC umbrella. Lineker previously missed weight four times as a UFC flyweight before the promotion effectively forced him to move up to 135 pounds.

...

But Lineker wasn't the only Brazilian in Portland to falter on the scales. Two of Lineker's countrymen, co-main event fighter Alex Oliviera and undercard veteran Hacran Dias, also missed weight at Friday's official weigh-ins.

Oliviera tipped the scales at 161.5 pounds, 5.5 pounds above the 156-pound lightweight limit, while Dias came in at 148.5 pounds, 2.5 pounds over the featherweight limit.

Its not about the weight class for a guy like Lineker, its about a lack of professionalism and not giving a sh*t in general. Also, fighters' egos are too big and if not, the ufc bullies them into taking the fight anyway. He smashes his opponent, still moves up in the division. Nobody cared that he missed weight after his last few KOs, the fine is a short-term sacrifice, almost like an investment.

True, I don't think Lineker is like Johnson was, trying to fight 2 divisions too low.

Askren refused to fight that guy who missed weight (after trying to make if the guy weighed in at a certain weight over on fight night) but, I don't think anyone in the UFC has?

Also Lineker's manager is a liar, or Lineker's weight cut method is idiotic.

Manager claims John Lineker made weight days prior to fight, but then gained back too much

Woodley posited the idea of refusing a fight with Gastelum when he missed weight. I searched for the exact quote but couldn't find it, but he basically said the ufc made him feel like he was the one who did something wrong when he hesitated to take the fight (even though Gastelum missed weight by like 10 lbs IIRC).

He should just suck it up and do exactly what they want, even when conditions change, just like a good independent contractor.

Who in dee f**k are half these guys?

Don't get why Lineker can't cut a half pound. He must just like trolling. He's going to go out there, rub his gut to taunt his opponent and fans, then ko Dodson. He's the ultimate heel. At least Dodson is corny.

Cowboy Oliveira is an even bigger tool for missing by 6 and a half pounds. That's totally disrespectful. He must not have even tried either, in the other direction. That's the worst part. A couple lbs honestly doesn't bother me that much, because it doesn't provide you much advantage, and you may have tried, but just couldn't get over the hump or calculate right. But missing by basically nothing or 5+ lbs is a slap in the face. Hopefully Cowboy can't take advantage of that weight advantage, and Brooks dispatches of him easily. His weigh-in reaction was warranted. You should get 40% of the purse for > 5 lbs. Why is .5 to infinity all 20%? That's not much deterrence then, if you just want to beat someone in the weight class lower than you, for 80% of your max purse. You increase your possibility significantly of getting the win bonus if you didn't kill yourself on the cut.

Nate Marquardt for a WW title shot if Woodley beats Wonderboy? Why not? Bisping/Hendo is next weekend.

Ottow is a milwaukee guy. Idk him and have never trained with him. He is one of the head guys at the gym Ricks at now though, was cornering him in that fight a few weeks back.
