Say what you want about the interim belts, it's worth all of the dilution to ensure this fight is a 5 rounder.

Two determined, confident dudes. Awesome.

I just don't think you can d'arce a guy like Khabib. Even Tony. Will have to finish standing possibly. Otherwise decision to Khabib.

Why is the thread named after the co-main? Great fight, but so is the main event.

Cause nobody else was making this thread and I am looking forward to this fight more than the main event.

CAn't they agree to make fights five rounds without it being a title or main event? I don't see why not.

Yea pretty sure. Not sure if it would vary by commission but tbh IDK why it would.

Shogun-Hendo 1 was a 5 round non title fight, and they've done it for other non-titles fights but I believe all have been main events.

I guess the next step for the UFC is to make every fight a title fight, and then every fight will be 5 rounds.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were in fighter contracts. 5 rounders are not in a fighter's interest, really, unless for a belt of the ME.

I always thought it was something that was in an individual fight contract as opposed to a fighter's contract with the ufc. The fact that its not in the fighter's best interest actually makes it more likely that its not in their fight contract tbh. As we know, fighters have historically just taken what the ufc gives them for the most part.

True. But the contract would have to define the length of a "fight". And I feel like at that point would have to define the conditons under which fights would be 5 rounds. No way is anyone going to sign up to a contracted number of fights without it being carefully specified what a "fight" entails, when they are obliged to do 5 rds and when not.

That makes sense and you are probably right. Although its possible if we were having this convo five or ten years ago, "No way is anyone going to sign up to a contracted number of fights without it being carefully specified what a "fight" entails" could have easily read:

"No way is anyone going to sign up to a contracted number of fights without the guarantee that they could keep their sponsors".
or
"No way is anyone going to sign up to a contracted number of fights without the ability to maintain their own privacy (e.g., not giving the UFC the ability to suspend them if they refuse to pull out their penis and piss in front of a USADA inspector who knocked on their home's door in the middle of the night during training camp to administer a drug test)".
or
"No way is anyone going to sign up to a contracted number of fights without the guarantee that they can keep their own likeness and not have the UFC own it in perpetuity".

Obviously I'm being a little facetious but its just funny because I've heard multiple lawyers state how ridiculous ufc contracts are.

I'm way too damn excited for this card. Tony vs Khabib looks like a gem of a fight.

Thompson vs Woodley also a nice rematch. I'm kind annoyed with tyron the way he porstrays himself so I hope wonderboy wins by some crazy kick to the dome.

Also, looking forward to hunt vs reem.

I think it may have been in another thread but I think cpt said it best: Its hard to imagine either Tony or Khabib losing at this juncture. Khabib is like the immovable object while Tony is like the unstoppable force. I don't think I could put together a better fight if I was MMA God. Maybe as good, but not better.

Woodley and Ferguson get the win. Then Ferguson beats Connor.

I favor Khabib but honestly Ferguson is a tough matchup, I'd say toughest in the division. If Tony does get the win, I could see a weird rock, paper, scissors scenario with Khabib/Ferguson/Conor. I think Conor matches up really well with Tony but terribly with Khabib.
