2017 RealGM MMA Hall of Fame Inductee (Poll)

It's that time of year again, where we once again vote to enshrined the newest members into the RealGM MMA Hall of Fame. This year (and all years going forward), we will inducted two of the ten nominees. The rules are the same as last year. It doesn't necessarily have to be a fighter, but they do need to be retired (or as close an anyone in MMA can be to retired) from whatever it is that merits their inclusion. So fighters can't still be fighting, announcers can't still be announcing...

I went ahead and did this about a month earlier than all the other yearly awards, in an attempt to cast as wide a net as possible.


2016 Inaugural Class: Randy Couture, Royce Gracie, Matt Hughes, Chuck Liddell

Also, for the record, I left Tito and Urijah off the list because they have publicly waffled on their retirement recently. I suspect both will be on this list next year if they are still retired.

Chuck is of his era, but he's deserving. Some of these guys don't feel deserving, but it's such a young sport that probably 35 of the top 50 fighters of all time are still currently fighting. This will become a lot harder list to crack as time goes by.

He's retired, but he doesn't have the resume to make this list. He has a good deal of name recognition due to the WWE and his rivalry with Tito, but his resume is pretty flimsy.

I went with Fertitta. Next pick IMO would be between Hendo and Big Nog. I gave a slight advantage to Hendo and voted for him.

Chuck did well in the UFC during his era because Rampage, Dan Henderson, Wand, and Shogun were in Pride.

And those guys will surely get in too when they retire. It's not like Chuck feasted on a bunch of bums. He has wins over Randleman, Belfort, Bustamante, Overeem, Tito twice, and Couture twice. His wins stack up with and probably exceed the wins of the other 3 guys voted in last year (Hughes, Gracie, and Couture).
