UFC on Fox (Winnipeg): Lawler vs. RDA (Dec 16th)

Post#1 » by AirCanadaMouse » Wed Dec 13, 2017 8:49 pm

Main Card (Fox)
Welterweight Robbie Lawler vs. Rafael dos Anjos
Featherweight Ricardo Lamas vs. Josh Emmett
Welterweight Santiago Ponzinibbio vs. Mike Perry
Light Heavyweight Glover Teixeira vs. Misha Cirkunov

Preliminary Card (Fox Sports 1)
Light Heavyweight Jan BÅ‚achowicz vs. Jared Cannonier
Middleweight Julian Marquez vs. Darren Stewart
Welterweight Chad Laprise vs. Galore Bofando
Flyweight Tim Elliott vs. Pietro Menga
Lightweight John Makdessi vs. Abel Trujillo
Middleweight Alessio Di Chirico vs. Oluwale Bamgbose

Preliminary Card (UFC Fight Pass)
Welterweight Jordan Mein vs. Erick Silva
Welterweight Nordine Taleb vs. Danny Roberts

Very solid FOX card.... I really like the fight pass match-ups too. Pitting two of MMA's biggest disappointments together in Mein vs. Silva .

RDA-Lawler is a pick em' fight, and the winner will probably the next WW contender

Josh Emmett is very underrated, and I think he's going to beat Lamas. Another under the radar fight is Laprise-Bofando, think that has FOTN potential along with Santiago and Mike Perry.

GLAD TO SEE MY BOY MISHA BACK TOO, the hype train has definitely been derailed by Volkan though lol.

Mike Perry?!?!

I'M IN!

Lawler beats RDA.

Looking forward to seeing the prelim fights. Erick Silva looks like a promising prospect!

This looks decent.

Erick Silva vs. Jordan Mein lol. This is definitely for the "youngest washed up failed prospect" championship, but I don't know if that title is given to the winner or loser. Mein is the reigning champ, being washed up at like 24.

Some great names on this card: Santiago Ponzinibbio, Galore Bofando, Pietro Menga...these guys make Glover Teixeira and Abel Trujillo look like John Smith. Alessio Di Chirico vs. Oluwale Bamgbose is a barnburner in that regard.

I don't even think this is something Jordan Mein wanted to, but he was forced into this sport because of his dad. Just speculating... and it's a shame because he had all the tools to be a top WW.

I don't see the comparison between Mein and Silva. Silva is just explosion. Mein is fluid and has been ahead, looking great in big fights. So where Silva got to the dance w pure aggro (and pre usada), Mein has way more sustainable skills .

You have to understand, I don't know anything about fights, just the circumstances surrounding them.

Both guys had "next big thing" expectations on them. Both have failed in that regard. That's the comparison.

Surprised this is a pick’em with RDA actually being a tiny favorite. I would think the more popular champion from the higher weight class would be at least a decent favorite in the public’s eyes.

Lawler opened as the favorite, money came in on RDA pretty quick.

I can't see RDA having a shot unless Lawler's jaw is glass now

I actually think I may have scored Lawler's last fight for Cerrone live. Before that KOed by Woodley followed by a long absence. Not too surprised to see RDA getting some love. He's been on a tear, albeit against lesser competition at 170.

Robbie is like a bigger, more explosive Eddie Alvarez IMO. Not sure RDA's path to victory if we look at it from that light. Both are willing to eat some punches to give back some punishment and both are elite strikers.

Cowboy gave Eddie problems (and beat him) and Robbie struggled a bit against Cowboy once that fight slowed down a bit.

Kind of think Robbie just rolls through RDA. Don't think RDA has the absurd power that Woodley had to stop Robbie or the elite precision that Conor had to stop Eddie. Don't think he's big enough to wrestle Robbie out. Would be absolutely shocked if Robbie lost this fight.

My body is not ready for Platinum vs. Ponzinibbio, and I don't think the world is. This is what it's like when world's collide.

Yeah, I think Robbie walks through RDA. Too strong for the td attempts and has wrestling fundamentals. Then he beats back his aggression with just as technical combos but with more power coming back at him.

Didn't some of you Canadians think Circunov was good at some point or am I confusing him with someone else?

Perry slowing down mid second after imo edging the first. He has crazy power at 170 though so always dangerous.
