Never had any doubt that RDA was gunna win that one...

Just kidding. What a freaking beast. To grind out Robbie like that.

I would have picked Lawler also, but nothing is really an absolute shock in MMA.

Even when they were both fresh, RDA was controlling the clinch and looked like the stronger guy. Weird.

He looks amazing at this weight. Props to Lawler for fighting through with both legs being done.

There's a 15 lb gap between 155 and 170, so several guys going up and having some success seems to reinforce the former was a considerably better division.

Perry should still get the next title shot at 170. If that was a 5 rd fight he'd have gotten the ko for sure. None of those shots ever hit the exact part of Ponz' head, and he was trying to run out the clock.

I think it's more that too many guys are draining the hell out of themselves way too much for that division. 155 is so freaking small for a grown man with the amount of muscle some of these guys have.

That's because the 170ers are cleaning up 185 (GSP, Whittaker, Gastelum).

Gastelum made 170 like once, no?

Each division is significantly better than one above down to a point. I don't know if that's 155 (170) or 145 (about 158), to attract the average sized athletic man. Most logically, and empirically, it seems to be 155.

Lawler's back looks like toffee. No lats at all. Suspect change in physique.

RDA's back: tons of definition over his shoulder blades and in his traps. Crazy bulk in his quads and hamstrings. That is not the physique of someone previously dependent on PEDs.

Updates as fight continues and once I re-up by lubriderm.

Also, it's a really high quality fight 1 rd in.

Meanwhile, RDA just backed down Robbie and threw punches for 20-30 straight seconds without stopping. Not breathing deeply despite output. .

Elbows, clinch, knees, boxing movement, combinations in the pocket, body punching, ground and pound, takedowns, positioning on the ground...cardio output. What a performance by RDA so far (4 rounds in). I think he is a real tweener between 155 and 170, unfortunately. It might be the only thing preventing him from taking 170. What a monster of a fighter.

Don't bring boxing into this. RDA gave Robbie a Muay Thai lesson.

That's just flat-out wrong. There is no jab, body punching, or slipping in MT. His head movement off of jabs was amazing. Putting things together. Much like Holloway does. Constant pressure with those punches.

Agreed, the majority of the fight was in the clinch pressed against the fence. That doesn't mean he didn't show awesome boxing.

Weren't you one of the guys who COULDN'T EXPLAIN Pettis' loss to RDA other than that RDA must be juicing? Cos, like he once didn't have abs and then he had abs? LOL. How the suspicions have turned. RDA has maintained his exact level of performance across USADA's reign.

Send the man a box of spirulina and your apologies. He improved cos he worked hard as hell.

99% of the time that I mention the words "muay thai" on this board, I'm lightly trolling you.

BTW, remember when you said Holloway's upside potential was limited due to his thai style?

No. I was suspicious of RDA, but I never said he only beat Pettis due to juicing. Ever. I actually said it was due to technical deficiencies in Pettis' game.

And RDA has looked amazing as of late and I have given him full props for that. See earlier in this thread when everyone but me was saying he had no avenue to beat Lawler. Hell I even called someone out awhile back for putting him on a "looked bad since USADA" list. He's 4-2 since USADA with wins over Cerrone and Lawler. Doesn't seem to be slowing down and is probably deserves to be next in line at WW.

Does RDA have a shot against Woodly though? Woodly is a big 170er.
