Shields has to figure out how to MMA between rounds here, or she's going to lose.

Elkin really was bad, but it was still extremely fortunate that it wasn't aiming too high...

Yeah was looking like she was gonna lose but ended with a tko win. Good one her.

Heaps of work to do on her end. A lot of wrestling and grappling. She had a good chance to disengage on the ground in the second and re engagedand ended up mounted for the rest of the round. Silly mistake.

IDK anything about her opponent at all but the girl is a brown belt who has competed in jiu jitsu.

Elkins is actually a much tougher opponent than what most MMA fighters make their debut against.

Definitely some holes in Shield's grappling but it was expected. She actually showed a lot of promise. Some of the positions she got herself into was a result of what she did as opposed to what Elkins did. On the feet, she looked phenomenal, granted it was against a grappler. Shields is the best boxer to ever transition to MMA. Holm was an excellent boxer but transitioned to MMA when she was already in her early-mid 30's and in boxing she was never particularly fast or powerful. Although Shields lacks power, you can tell she's got very fast hands. She's gonna be a big problem on the feet.

What I was most impressed with was the heart, determination and gas tank she showed. Many experienced MMA fighters are gassed after 1-2 rounds fighting the way Shields fought. It was a great performance against a fighter that couldn't have been a worse matchup for a striker with minimal experience in grappling. If Shields fought Elkins again in 6 months, Shields would batter her in a couple of minutes.

I'm intrigued, I liked what I saw.

Maybe I'm not giving Shields enough credit, but Elkins didn't look like an accomplished grappler to me. She looked like she learned to wrestle a year ago and then someone tried to show how her to armbar last week. Though I think she also just gassed out.

Paul Craig wasn't given a black belt until after the last win? Dude was a brown with 12 subs in 14 wins?? That's a stringent discipline.

Gsp was gonna fight him and make a fortune but Dana being the terrible person he is wouldn’t let him.

Kinda **** ufc can drop a fighter with fights left on their deal but when it goes the other way they can keep them from fighting elsewhere

LMAO, Anderson finally wins one for MMA in the boxing ring. He actually looked pretty decent. Good footwork and energy throughout. Pieced up Chavez a bit. The 8 rounds allowed for his traditional slow start and some of his show boating. Well done Spider.

Geez, that corrupt boxing judging nearly handed Chavez the win...

Amazing performance from Silva last night. Really happy for him because his UFC career didn't end the way it should have.

JCC Jr needs to decide if he actually wants to box or not. JCC Jr has kind of fallen off the boxing radar the past couple of years so I decided to watch a couple of his recent fights a few days ago. He fought one guy a couple years ago, got boxed up, lost a decision and he didn't even seem to care and the Mexican fans were ripping on him in the comment section. I just can't imagine how much they'd be ripping on him now after such an embarrassing performance last night. Guy started his career at 154lbs and came in overweight against a career 185/205'er in Anderson Silva. Silva had to cut a ton of weight for this fight and he managed to do it successfully and yet JCC Jr couldn't?

Fighting is a very unforgiving sport. If you don't take it seriously, you can lose to anyone. JCC Jr turned down a fight against a decent boxer so he could fight Silva who he thought would be a much easier fight at a much bigger payday. It backfired and Silva boxed his ears off. JCC Jr got what was coming for him.

Damn, Anderson is a legend. Showed some serious mastery of boxing. His movement was beautiful. He's 45 or something too...?

Yep. 46 years old. An amazing performance. Best performance from an MMA fighter in a boxing ring. I actually wouldn't mind seeing Silva/Belfort in boxing. I just can't see Belfort losing to a much lighter man who's been partying hard for a couple of decades and hasn't fought since 2008.

I watched some of the highlights of that Silva-JCC fight and what stood out for me is how clear it was that Silva could not be hurt by JCC and how completely not at risk he was as the fight went on. Not even so much because JCC was gassed but because the range of threats was so limited in boxing vs MMA, where even when someone's dominating their opponent can still always land an unexpected elbow or head kick or knee or can take them down and suddenly get a kimura or guillotine or whatever. Whereas in this match what could happen that threatened Silva? Absolutely nothing. Not to mention I feel like every time JCC did land a punch Silva was like - 'are you kidding me? you're hitting me with pads and it's supposed to hurt?' I still find it weird how MMA has changed my perception of boxing.
