See that cyborg was open to fighting rousey in wwe? And a video of cain training at there performance centre too? This is starting to get interesting between these two companies... I wonder if ufc views the wwe as a threat or if there open to all this kind of collaboration. It's sort of a one way street in terms of talent transitioning from one to the other.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets/Etc., Vol. 5
Saw news (again) about DC and others saying he is in the GOAT discussion but not Jon Jones due to the drug failures. I kind of take issue with the absolute acceptance of results because after Jones' failed test, people go back to DC-Jones 1 and think Jones' suspicious testosterone levels were evidence he juiced his whole career. But, DC had suspicious test results too. And I kind of assumed that is why DC was never hard on Jones for the drug tests (until now). He didn't discredit Jones over that (most times) or use it as an excuse, like Bisping does at all times. I don't think DC's fatness is a reasonable reason to dismiss it either as the notion has been disproven by example many times; the PED expert who criticized Jones basically also indicated it is probable they both juiced for their first fight. Personally, I think it's more likely that Jones may have simply juiced in a more stupid way, or more heavy way than Cormier and others.
Then there is the thing about how the guys Jones faced outside of DC were mostly in the pre-USADA era and included known PED using legends. Altogether, I don't believe everyone gets caught and the testing isn't enough to call someone clean and use it to determine who was better. At least in the era when everyone could juice and Jones seemed like the GOAT we can remove the issue.

Some fighters may do it for leverage. Not sure but Cyborg might just be fairly unhappy with the UFC and it's prospects, maybe a little WWE is the best place for her financially. I think Cain is just a fan, and maybe fighters would prefer a transition to WWE than competing after their primes end.

Romero vs Costa confirmed for UFC 230 NY. Something for nostalgics, a throwback pre USADA fight

My understanding is that DCs levels were low but explainable whereas Jones were just straight up suspicious.
How many times would Jones have to pop before you think it would be okay to question his legacy?

It's hard for me to not put Jones in there as a top 3 GOAT. Totally understand and acknowledge the argument that he's popped, multiple times, but it's just hard for me to remove the image of him destroying everyone including DC every time he's stepped in the cage. On the other hand, I've seen DC get beat. Not saying getting beat means you can't be in the conversation but when you put those two guys together where one has beaten the other twice, it's just hard

I posted this in the other thread but this fight is NOT official. UFC announced it as a way to pressure Romero into accepting a fight that he has not agreed to. He is coming off surgery to his broken orbital and did not accept.
Another scumbag move by the UFC.

Lots of black eyes for the UFC lately IMO...letting a suspended steroid freak in the cage to push active fighters and commissioners, stripping guys of titles they won a month ago in favor of guys who can't make weight, and using scumbag tactics to pressure fighters into accepting fights.

Schaub was right about Dana White. The Fertittas were the sensible ones and honey to his vinegar. I think that was by design, as they complemented each other. Now that the Ferittitas are gone and Dana has more creative control, emotional myopia is the driver to the UFC's decisions. Needs to be appeased in the moment. Also heard from some Joe Silva is a nasty little man.

I agree with almost every word of this. Except I think its impossible to tease out what is WME's influence and what is Dana's. Who knows who is using these scummy tactics to get guys to sign fights? Who knows who had the idea to strip Colby, Tony, etc?
The Brock thing, if I had to guess, would be most likely to be Dana's influence. Dana has always had a hardon for Lesnard.

The Fertittas were true businessmen. They did things that were good for business and that includes (to a certain degree) taking good enough care for their product that there isn't obvious outrage. Dana brought the passion but he's an emotional loose cannon and that was evident even during the Zuffa years but the Fettitas having a major voice in the room meant Zuffa as a company made more sensible decisions.
I've heard that about Joe Silva as well. He was apparently not well liked by fighters

I don't think WME has a huge say when it comes to the details ie who fights who, when to strip this person and that person etc. But WME having a major financial obligation to its financiers/shareholders meant that there is always that tap on the shoulder for big money shows. Obviously that would influence decisions like like match making and interim belt giving/taking. It just seems since the Fettitas sold out, the UFC has gone further into the the entertainment realm and further from the sports world.

I've still never seen anyone in a Reebok jersey.

I've seen Pettis (!) and GSP jerseys in super random contexts here in Toronto. Both on very non-athletes. Still would buy a Boetsch jersey myself if rich as ****.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

At first I was surprised, but then I wasn't really. The first FOX card was heavily promoted. The UFC spending most of it's advertising promoting a guy who refuses to defend his belts, too many cards, too many belts, fighters being busted for PEDs, fighters leaving the organization, Netflix/HBO GO/Hulu, ect.

Part of it is people cutting the cord, but I think accruing good ratings in tv for mma comes down to training viewers when to look for your events and either having advanced billing or delivering from an entertainment perspective on a regular basis. If you told people the UFC would be on Fox around this time each month, and they could enjoy an event like last weekend's, they'd continue to build an audience. Instead they are super erratic. Again, possibly missing the business acumen of the Fertittas.
But perceptionally, last weekend's results can't help Eddie as he goes into FA. I'd guess he goes back to Bellator or east Asia. He is the underground king. Him and Iron Mike might well ironically trade places. It's Chandler's turn to prove himself to the casuals.

Oh ****, that's right. Eddie "bet on himself".
He's doubtlessly a millionaire by now. Should retire. The guy was going to war with Joachim 10+ years ago, after rising through Phillie gyms, and has gotten buckled in virtually every fight since ... he's taken enough damage

These new lows just doesn't surprise me anymore. It's clear that people just aren't tuning in with regularity as they once were. The product is watered down, the advertising is spent on the top 1% of UFC fighters and of those 1%, the hope is that 1 of those maybe 3-4 guys will pull in enough numbers to make 2-3 other low buy rate cards acceptable on the books.
I was a huge MMA fan and quite frankly, between the Stipe/DC card and the last card I watched before that, would have been a good month or two.
