Not sure what else is gonna be on the card but glad to have Nate back. That’s a good fight too.
Sets up the Nate vs Conor match if Conor and Nate win

Or if they both lose.

Of if Conor loses and Nate wins.
If Conor wins and Nate loses it can’t happen, but then it becomes CM vs GSP
If Khabib wins it’s Khabib vs GSP

Ya he stormed off the stage during the press conference when they announced the Khabib/Conor fight. Says he will fight only if he feels like it at the time. He basically said he deserves the title shot. Diaz is 2-2 in his last 4 fights. I'm a fan of Nate, but this is just getting ridiculous.

It is ridiculous. Title shots based off merit maybe??
Why not just invite the Diaz bros, along with KJ Noons, Diego Sanchez, mayhem Miller, Karo Parysian, Joe Riggs, and have a battle royal? Winner can get the interim and inaugural battle royal championship of the galaxy. Too be forfeited if not defended in sixty days of course.

Joe Riggs and Karo Judo Parisyan. Talk about some UFC deep cuts up in here. Maybe James Irvin can cut some weight and join in.

Well those are just a few of the guys the Diaz Bro's have brawled with outside the cage at various points throughout there careers. Just invite them all to watch Connor fight and I'm sure we can get a brew ha ha with little to no payment required to anyone.

Seems like Nate wants to fight on the same card as Conor and Khabib so the UFC doesn’t pull shenanigans lime making him fight on a super short turn around, or giving them time to set up some other fight, or waiting too long and someone gets hurt.

The ufc isn't going to pull anything. Regardless of what happens with Connor and khabib the reality is, Connors next fight, if and when it is, is going to be at Connor's discretion.
For Diaz, I don't think fighting on the next card really eliminates him.. What are the odds Connor has a quick turn around after this fight? Slim to none id say. Nate will have plenty of time to campaign.

Diaz said he was pissed and that the UFC needs to learn how to market him.
I’m wondering if he was pissed because he thought the headlines were going to be about Diaz, but instead of everyone buzzing and getting that fight attention they smothered it with announcing CM vs Khabib.
To be fair he’d be right, it completely killed that fights headline coverage it would have received.

I think this is the reason he was pissed, not that he wont be on Conor's card. Him and Poirier were the big fight announced at the press conference, Nate was late and it made it even more of this crazy thing to talk about. But just like that, they drop Conor vs Khabib and ya everyone has basically already forgot about that fight and everyone is talking about Conor vs Khabib. Nate will get over it.

If anyone should defer to Conor, it's Nate. Conor opened the door for Nate's subpar ass to transcend the sport.

I agree, but it’s just another example of the ufc not understanding the need to build their stars.
They have Nate, who for whatever reason is a big draw and instead putting even the tiniest effort to market him they drawn his draw ability at the same press conference.
I mean, just wait a few days. Let people get excited then drop the Conor bomb while people are discussing mma.

Im a big believer that a big part of promoting and becoming a star is on the fighers. With that said, that doesnt excuse the UFC from botching marketing. This is something that I think they have done a lot, especially since Ronda and Conor. They seem to have a problem on focusing on more than 1 or 2 fighters at once.
The Nate vs Poirier news wouldve been enough for fight fans to be pumped on. That fight wouldve been enough to be talking about all weekend. But they drop Conor vs Khabib and it just squashes it. Hell give the weekend to the Nate vs Poirier fight at least then Sunday night or Monday morning drop the Conor news. At least that way it would be a brand new fresh topic for the sport shows to talk about on Monday.

Exactly, why not just give that fight announcement a few days to run the media gauntlet and get some hype to gain draws and then in a few days you capitalize on the conversation being on mma and you drop CMs return and create more Buzz
The UFC self sabotages. To me, it’s always been a case of them wanting to promote the UFC brand and being terrified of promoting individuals because then they have more control over their directions. Yes they could make them more money, but on the other hand, they could make someone else more money as well, and they are all about controlling the fight space.
Although to be fair how does he expect the UFC to invest the promotional time, money and effortin in him when he/his family have a history of suspensions, backstage brawls and threatening to not show up to fights, and to promotional events etc. That’s on the Diaz’s

They need to make this a 5 rounder. 3 rounds won't do it justice. Call it a title eliminator bout and make it 5 rounds.
