Michael Johnson vs. Andre Fili, two guys that should probably be on the douchebag list fighting each other.

This card is seriously nuts. Watch some bizarro world sh*t happen where the Gaetje fight is boring.

WOW. Apparently the guy who reffed the Alcantara fight was relieved of his duties for the rest of the night after that late stoppage. A rare instance of a state athletic commission holding someone besides the fighter accountable.

Awesome night of fights. Wall-to-wall action, except for the women's match, which thankfully I could ffw thru since I dvr'ed it. I really do think one factor in the loss of popularity in the sport is the integration of too many women's divisions just because of Ronda. They're desperate to find another one.

The only other negatives were the officiating. There were two points at which that Sandhagen-Alcantara fight should have been stopped, 1 in each rd. Ref in was waiting for uninterrupted strikes for a long period of time. It's a pet peeve. The scoring in the Fili-Johnson fight was off. Should have gotten the 2nd for the long body triangle and being close to the finish in the second, and in the third he was just a lot more active. Also, I didn't like the scoring in the Sanchez-Perez match. Although it seems like I'm alone in this belief. But they gave a lot of credit to the wall and stall which is supposed to be a tiebreaker, when it wasn't a tie. Perez was throwing everything full power to body or head when they got a little space.

As far as some technical thoughts: I think Alcantara erred in application of that armbar trying to twist too much instead going for the straight armbar. There's only so far it can bend. Not that it didn't require toughness by Sandhagen. Really smart play by Anders. Surprising you don't see that more timing a fighter with a kick when he's getting up. I think that will be copied. Gall is just a beast grappler. Can't believe ufc had Punk fight him. Makes it a 1 v. 1 battle with each arm, gets the first under the neck, and cinches it up.

When it comes to the main event, Gaethje set up that ko with a stutter step on Vick's left side to force him right and anticipated with that left hook to over-hand right combo that he could lean into because he manipulated the Texecutioner. Gaethje is as entertaining after the fight flopping all over the cage lip w/ little regard for his body.

Seems like every time I take the time to sit down and watch these full free cards, I end up extremely satisfied.

I should also note Johnson continues to look like crap at 145. He looks gaunt, lethargic, and weak. This was a really short-sighted move by him. He's beaten contenders at 155 in Ferguson, Poirier, and Barboza. He could have beaten our main event winner if he found the right shot after he had him badly hurt multiple times. He may well never win a title at 155, but it's even less likely at 145. And he'll be in less marquee fights.

Vick has been calling Gaethje out for a long time before they even fought in the same promotion. He talked so much sh*t. The humble pie must be terrible, not to even mention the severe brain damage he received.

I thought he fell forward off his stool when Gaethje checked on him, but people seem to think he shot a double on him. While either is horrible, if a guy is still shooting doubles off the stool 3-5 minutes after the fight is over while surrounded by doctors, that is just so brutal.

His ego would be bruised more than his brain. I don't think the head trauma was that bad. It was a 1-2 punch combo at the beginning of a fight. Realistically that won't be many cells lost. The symptoms can be from temporary insufficient blood flow of the brain to repair the damage immediately. He should recover with a little time elapsed to get the flow back, with only minor long-term damage suffered. It's those series of blows while your brain is already damaged that changes careers and lives. Maybe some vicious head kick with a long lever and speed to the right spot like Cro Cop delivered to Wand. But I think Vick will be fine, relatively speaking.

Not only do you have top-flight business acumen (second-guessing every move made by Coker et al.), you're also a neurologist? Or a human fMRI / necropsy analyst? With confidence, Vick did not sustain lasting damage. Amazing insight.

It's a forum for opinions. Your name would have belonged in the douchebag bracket if you were classified as being in mma. So ironic you'd be so irritated by that trait.

LOL

You just gave a prognosis, including detail of the trauma and recovery time.

It's gold.
