Fight night 143: Dillashaw vs Cujo

Post#1 » by Headliner » Sat Jan 19, 2019 12:00 pm

Tonight’s the night.

Excited for this fight, a lot of speculation that the flyweight division is on the line.

I don’t pay attention to 125 typically so I’m not sure about HC’s history, but he seemed a pretty self aware guy. He talks like a champ and I truly believe he believes he’s the best 125 pounder in the world. He’s pretty solid on the mic and is a lot more of a dynamic personality than Mighty Mouse. I’m interested to see how his personality would do if given time to headline the division. He might be able to draw fans.
So I’m rooting for him this fight, plus a win here and then him going up to 135 to fight for that title is an exciting prospect imo

Interested to see Bill Cosby’s sweater vs the Undertaker as well. Not sure how Cowboys body will respond though, he looked like death and could barely lift his head at the presser. He might be too drawn out. I can’t imagine him ever being able to compete in a 5 rounder in that condition, so the quest for a belt is probably fruitless

HC is a built-in-the-lab douche bag. Combine a Tony Robbins motivational tape with an evangelical Christian (his nickname is "The Messenger"...without a trace of irony or awareness) and put the dude through a lifetime of wrestling bro training. Oh, and make him walk through everyday society as a man in a 5'2'' body.

This is how you build an ****.

Literally, his nickname is "The Messenger" (like, from God).

Lol I guess my 3 minute personality analysis based off of one YouTubed press conference skewed me. Damn, I liked him at the presser. He praised TJ for how good he is, which I respected and didn’t resort to silly insults, but cane off as supremely confident and made me believe that he’s going into this thinking he’s going to take out TJ.

How is TJs wrestling? My memory is faded on that, Cruz and Cody are my only clear memories for his fights.

Didn't I once predict that your mancrush on TJ Dillashaw would have you soon slandering his next opponent much like you slander his other rivals - Cody and Dom?

Looks like I was right as per usual.

Wrestling is TJ's base. I have no idea who will have the mma wrestling edge in this fight.

Whoa! Mark Munoz looks like someone inflated him with an air compressor. That bums me out.

Catching up and watching the prefight stuff with Ariel and Chael. Say what you want about Chael, but I think he is the perfect guy for UFC and MMA for ESPN. The dude is made to be a TV personality.

You're missing the confound. Yes, all opponents of TJ are slander-worthy. But this is not because they are opponents of TJ, it's because all opponents of TJ are men under 5'4'' tall and all men under 5'4'' (also, wrestlers) are going to be ****.

I rooted hard for HC over Joseph Benevidez, FWIW. JB is an even bigger ass**** than HC.

Yet you never smear TJ who is 1) a manlet himself and 2) the biggest scum of all except for probably Cody. Hmm.

The fact that Hernandez is such a fast starter to the point where he literally punches and kicks through glove taps does not bode well for a slow starting Cowboy.

Edit: okay NVM Cowboy is beating the f*ck out this dude so far lol. We'll see if he fades due to his insane weight cut.

Edit2: I don't really bet anymore but if I did I would have bet on Hernandez, Lipske, and TJ. Obvs way wrong about the first two, hoping Im wrong about the third as well.

Man, that's a feel good fight. Comeuppance for a young punk, and respect (re)earned from from him and others for the old lion. While it had tremendous fun factor and high-level technique/effort. That takedown was really impressive by Donald in the first round. Kept re-shooting and hipping into it. But Hernandez hipped back up to his feet. Cerrone much sharper on the counter in this fight than he usually is. Straights timed down the middle. That and some dip downs to the other side set up huge LHK's. Reminiscent of the other Punk v. Diaz.

It just feels bigger with the UFC on ESPN, like I thought it would. Not just the audience but their production is more polished.

I wonder what Bellator thinks about Chael essentially doing supportive commentary for the UFC on ESPN though. I mean he does it for Bellator too, while being a fighter under contract for them. Dana flipped out that Ariel went to a Bellator event while he worked on UFC Tonight (but was paid by Fox).

Ariel was actually being paid by UFC when he worked for Fox, just fyi.

Anyway, hopefully espn doesn't drag cards out until 1am like fs1 always did.
