Hypothetical Boxing Match: Francis vs Fury

Post#1 » by jc23 » Mon Mar 29, 2021 6:37 pm

Who would win under the Marquess of Queensberry Rules?

mma fighters have many tools taken away when they get into a boxing ring. With Francis he is basically just a stand up guy anyways so i dont think he loses anything and in honesty probably becomes more deadly since he doesnt have to worry about wrestling.

who wins?

I think Fury wins 9/10. mma guys aren't pro boxer level at stand up. MacGregor was about as good at stand up as any mma fighter we've ever seen and Floyd more or less just played with him for 8-9 rds. Francis has a small chance just due to his insane power but he would gas by rd 2-3 just like Conor did and then Fury would wreck him. Boxers understand how to throw punches and play defense with the gloves in a way that mma fighters don't.

Francis will define fight fury or Joshua one day so we’ll see.

I mean Fury truly embarrassed Wilder. What’s the big difference between Wilder and Francis? Either than Wilder being longer and far superior in boxing skills?

Fury toys with him.

if Tyson were a counter-punch or something, there would at least be the issue of him having to anticipate punches coming from insane angles. like, you see MT fighters get thrown by sloppy brawlers cos they are expecting such a stylized form of striking. but Tyson is just going to pin Francis with a jab and murder him.

Ngannou doesn't beat a top 100 HW in boxing.

Fury murders him because of the obvious difference in size, skill and experience.

But I wouldn't even give Francis a punchers chance. Fury took a couple dynamite shots from Wilder that would have put down an elephant. He got dropped twice but came back and outboxed Wilder. Moreover, Francis Ngannu has to deal with much bigger gloves. Its much easier to slip your shots through your opponents defense in MMA with those tiny friggin gloves. Not a luxury he'll have with those massive boxing gloves.
Why rely on nuance, facts and logic when you can bludgeon the other side with mindless repetition of "Duuur McDaniel's has potential :tooth and still be treated as if you were reasonable.

Ryan Hall on Mac vs DP undercard...setting up the injury replacement scenario we've been waiting for...Hall vs Macgregor.
