Honestly is boxing big at all anymore? Has anyone even heard of Kelly Pavlik?

I know one of the teams (Browns, Indians, Buckeyes or Cavs) watched the first fight as motivation leading into their underdog matchup. Pavlik is a Cleveland native, so I guess it does belong.

Pavlik is an animal, if you don't know him, you should do some research.

You've got another boxing fan here.
This should be an early candidate for fight of the year (just based on their first fight). Since the fight is scheduled at 166, I can see how it can help Pavlik because he seems like the bigger fighter. My gut feeling is that Taylor overcomes his defeat, by being quick on his fight and moving around the ring alot. I feel that Pavlik will lose steam as the fight goes on, leading to a points victory by Jermaine Taylor.
This could potentially line up a 3rd fight between the two fighters, this time for the title.
btw, go to youtube and watch the HBO countdown show to this fight. I know HBO hypes every fight to be the greatest of all-time, but boy does it ever make for great TV!

I'm beginning to think that I'm the only boxing fan left in Toronto ... I'm sick about hearing about this MMA garbage ...
back on topic ... If Taylor can find a way to stop/avoid Pavlik's jab, he'll have a much better chance ... that's what wore him down in the first fight ... I'm going out on a limb and predicting Taylor in 8 by KO ...

I actually got Taylor by UD or by a 11th round TKO. I have yet to see Pavlic go more than 10 rounds and if Taylor can keep it that long it can be trouble for Kelly.

I am going with a KO by Pavlik in the 9th round. I think that he is just flat out better than him. There is something to be said about a guy who just definitively knocks you out. Taylor is a great boxer, he has the physical skills to get it done but he coasts by on his talent and not his skills. He needs to use his jab a whole lot more to be effective. He doesn't lay into his punches anymore. He needs to use combinations in order to get the UD or KO. Pavlik will get hit but he does that in order to impose his will on the fight. Taylor needs to make Pavlik respect him. He never backed him up and if he doesn't do that he will lose once more in prolly the same fashion.
It is a great undercard, you have Mijares who just headed lined a PPV with Valero at the end the year. Montiel is a tough mo'fo. Skinny guys fight til they are burger and expect action in the two main undercards. There is also Tommy Hearns son in the undercard. A very good prospect that will prolly will get a title shot in the future. It is a Top Rank PPV and say what you want about Arum he always makes excellent shows, something that can't be said of the Golden Boy Promotions.

Great fight. Way more tactical from both sides.
Taylor deserves alot of credit. I think he resurected his career ironically from 2 losses.
Pavlik showed not only that he can bang but can box as well. Hes going to be in some tough fights coming up.

I actually enjoy watching Taylor fight now ... He's definitely up there on my list alongside Pacquiao, Cotto and Mosley ...

I think Pavlik brought out Taylor's fighting instincts because he looked terrible against Spinks and Ouma. But when Taylor decides to open up hes fantastic.
And I cant wait for the Pacquiao/Marquez fight on March 15.
