Rampage lost his damn mind.

Former UFC light heavyweight champ Quinton "Rampage" Jackson got busted just minutes ago, and is currently in custody on the way to the clink -- but not before he was ordered to the ground, cops nearby with guns drawn.

Forest beat the sense out of him. Sorry, had to.
This sucks, I like Rampage. Hopefully he doesn't get too much crap for this.

Rampage is mentally screwed. I don't think he'll be LHW champ ever again.
BTW, the charges seem pretty severe... so jail time is a highly probable.

BTW he also fired Juanito, I hope Page gets it right, he is the most refreshing personalities in MMA.

I don't care how famous you are, how much money you have, or how many people you can beat up. Driving a vehicle with a giant picture of yourself on it automatically makes you a douchebag.

this will hurt MMA credibility of having high class athletes and combating any stereotypes that mma fighters are criminals. Especially when the biggest most marketable fighter in UFC is going to face some time.

I'm sure MMA will be fine.
This has nothing to do with MMA fighters as athletes, and I bet more people know who Rampage Jackson is now than they did two weeks ago when he was having the biggest fight of his career. He probably won't face much time, and he will return to MMA arguably more marketable than ever. Certainly more famous.
It doesn't look good in terms of making MMA a truly mainstream, family-oriented sport, but MMA is so far away from that right now anyway that I don't think it will make a difference.

Hmm.. apparently Rampage was detained again for mental observations. Damn, now I go from feeling pissed off over MMA's image to worrying about the guy. What happened to him?

It does nothing for the credibility of MMA. Some people are just stupid or... off. Do we say that basketball lost credibility due to one Ron Artest?

Combat sports will never be family oriented sport. Jeez... I can't believe someone would remotely think that. Common... you have to be 21 to enter most combat sports given that they are nowadays always in casinos.
I think people need to realize as much as we love our combat sports, it will never be in the mainstream unless you have a transcendent superstar and there just isn't anyone out there that the avg person will embrace or become invested in.

That's pretty much what I was trying to say. The core fanbase of MMA and other combat sports won't be turned off by this in the slightest, and it might actually stir up some more interest, as I've heard Rampage's name on mainstream sports and entertainment shows more in the past week than in the past year.

i went to a fight in louisiana and couldnt get in because it was in a caino

I dont think MMA will ever have that star due to the fact there are so many ways to lose a fight. You can sell a name on based on being exciting but i dont know how you can sell a name after getting so many losses. In my opinion, maybe i am being biased, but there really isnt one fighter that you say i will order the ppv 100 percent. I think Rampage was the only one but now that may be postponed, then Silva who is the best in the business has no competition so you know he is going to win

Re: Rampage lost his damn mind.
UFC President Dana White has spoken further about the “Rampage” Jackson situation and the condition of one of his biggest stars. White has disclosed that the doctors are far from making a diagnosis on Jackson’s condition and that an initial stay of 72 hours in the mental facility has now been extended.
Speaking to Yahoo!sports.com, White said: "I think it's going to be a while before we get him back. I'm talking as a friend. It's a sensitive issue. Rampage, the UFC fighter, who cares about that. We're concerned about Rampage, the human being. What matters is his personal life."
Commenting on the events leading up to Tuesday’s events, White said: "He was up for four days and he was doing some crazy fasting thing. He was up for four days, drinking water and energy drinks, that was it. It's not good. Rampage doesn't do drugs. Rampage really doesn't even drink. This whole thing made no sense to me. (Then) when I got there it made a lot of sense."
All we can hope as fan’s of the sport is that Quinton Jackson, the man, recovers to be the charismatic character we all know and love, long, long before anyone speaks to him about stepping inside the octagon again.
