UFN 15 & TUF 8

Post#1 » by The Notic » Wed Sep 17, 2008 2:16 pm

Should be a fun night. The Danzig-Guide fight and Diaz-Neer fight should be awesome. I got Diaz by sub in the first and Danzig by UD.

This season of TUF is suppose to have the most talented cast since TUF 1. Both guys are suppose to be bringing in some really, really good guys as special guests.Should be a fun season.

Yeah, defintely looking forward to this. Some entertaining fights to start the night, and I'm a sucker for TUF. I still love it.

I'm not sure if mentioning the assistant coaches would be considered a spoiler, so I won't say anything, but Team Noguiera's coaching staff is **** badass.

Danzig by knockout? I can see it happening, even though Clay can take a punch.

I'm not counting Diaz out. He is the lightweight Couture in regards to underdog status.

I'm really excited to see them step-up Danzig's competition. He's a super exciting fighter.

A lot of people are counting him out of this fight it seems. I do think he will win, more likely be rear naked choke, but I want to stick with my unlikely prediction.

I'd like to see Danzig win too. I still don't know how he beat that Matt Hughes clone (forget his name... red haired dude) so easily and by wrestling basically.

Isn't he already cut from the UFC?
He turned out to be a huge bust and kept losing if i remember correctly.

Tommy Speer. To give him the benefit of the doubt, he lost to Danzig, then Anthony Johnson. Neither are slouches. He's fought mostly cans, but I would like to see him back in the UFC some day.

My grandma probably has a better ground game than Alexander.

Wow, Danzig had no answers for Guida. That guy is on full speed all of the time.

I hate Nate Diaz's thuggy attitude, but I love watching him fight. His punches look like they couldn't hurt a five year old, but his BJJ is a blast to watch.

Guida just outworked Danzig. Not the most exciting fight but still interesting none the less. Guidas striking is very bad though but if you're a good athletic wrestler you can dictate the fight despite being one-dimensional. Good job by Guida.

Nates got some great BJJ, hes a guy who I think as he matures will have to move up in weight because at 6ft I dont see him cutting to 155 for much longer. He looks rail thin.

I completely stopped watching TUF. Im just sick of that show. Bad fighters, classless fighters, too much house drama and not enough action.

Guida didn't do much in that fight, I was disappointed. I think he might be one of those guys who is a lot more exciting in a loss, because when he is able to do what he wants, it is pretty close to lay-n-pray. I also kind of dislike him because of his hair and the stupid snarl face he makes in the warm up videos.

I really dislike Herman, and I think he got robbed. I really thought he was going to win a 30-27 unanimous decision. If that means that judges are finally starting to give more weight to stand up instead of takedowns, then I don't mind.

Liked the Diaz-Neer fight. Went pretty much how you would expect it. I'd still like to see Diaz go up against Tyson Griffin, even though he might get mauled. The Cesar Gracie camp doesn't like Griffin since he ditched them for Xtreme Couture.

Houston Alexander is probably done with the UFC. I'd heard he had signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC recently, but I think they have clauses that let them drop a fighter if he loses (and ones that extend the contract if he wins) in their contracts. I don't even know if he holds much value as a can at this point. I'd still like to see him against other strikers, but there's really no point in putting him against grapplers anymore.

As for the show, I thought the first episode was ok. I was surprised by a few of the fights, as I thought Jason Guida and Lance Evans would do better (don't really know why), and I'd heard a lot about Joe Duarte (people were saying he'd win), so I was surprised he lost, especially to the fainter.

LOL. Joe Duarte had a ton of internet hype.

Nate was great. I loved how he called out KJ Noons. Neer is a very, very game opponent. Much respect to him. Nate should be thrown out to Sherk after he kills Griffin to see where he's really at. Suck that most of the good LW's have upcoming fights or the fights don't make sense. Diaz-Edgar would be good but Nate ran through the last guy to beat Frankie. A rematch with Maynard, Lauzon or Franca doesn't really seem interesting. Florian, Sherk, Stevenson, Griffin all have upcoming fights. Huerta just came off a loss. Fischer maybe? w/e, I trust Joe Silva.

Lay Guida was borderline-boring, imo. He set a fantastic pace and everything, but it never seemed like he was interested in finishing the fight. He seemed content in holding him down and decisively winning each round.

Yeah, Alexander has to be probably done with the UFC. I respect the guy for what hes done. I think hes an incredible person with a great story. But its actually incredibly surprising that this guy beat some good fighters in the UFC. Sakara and Jardine are solid MMA fighters and he just used brawl tactics to win. It might be more of an indication of how bad the striking is in the UFC because Alexander isnt a good striker at all. He has absolutely no ground game. Hes made absolutely no improvements in that area. Hes like a fish out of water. I dont think ive ever even see him pull guard. LOL. You put him in there with a ground fighter and its safe to say hes going to lose. Alexander might hold some value fighting on UFN's but I dont see him ever fighting on the main cards of PPV's.

dana said one of the fighters on this seasons TUF might be the next Anderson Silva

kinda doubt it but pretty curious which guy he's talking about

-Nate Diaz won without getting his ass kicked first
-Frank Mir was pretty cool so far as a coach
-Noguiera probably doesn't need subtitles whenever he talks. His english sounded alright
-Guy from the show talking about how he belongs in ancient times with Attila the Hun, and using the word dog every sentence...glad he lost lol

If Houston is done in the UFC, then EliteXC needs to get him and Kimbo in a match. Fireworks there.

I don't care what anyone says, Kimbo vs Houston is a must see for me. Instant entertainment... provided Kimbo doesn't take Bas's advice too strongly.

They may as well cancel the 205 tourney, because it is going to be Bader and Krystoff in the final. That should be a hell of a fight too.
