MMA Best Ever Tourney

Post#1 » by Cammo101 » Mon Oct 27, 2008 1:04 am

I figured it would be fun (and stimulate some fun arguements) to do a 16 fighter tourney to let this board decide who the best MMA fighter ever is. I ranked the fighters to set up the brackets, but in order to not sway the votes I won't say what those rankings are. Don't vote based on who would necessarily win if both fought in their prime, more with who of the 2 you think had/have a better MMA career. I think this made for some very close decisions, even in the first round.

Respond to this post with who you vote for and I will count up the votes after like a week and then reset the final 8. Let the arguements begin...

Matt Hughes vs. Dan "Hollywood" Henderson

BJ "The Prodigy" Penn vs. Antonio "Minotauro" Nogueira

Randy "The Natural" Couture vs. Georges "Rush" St. Pierre

Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva vs. Ken "The Worlds Most Dangerous Man" Shamrock

Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell vs. Josh "The Babyface Assassin" Barnett

Tito "Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Ortiz vs. Dan "The Beast" Severn

Royce Gracie vs. Anderson "Spider" Silva

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Bas "El Guapo" Rutten

How Ken made that list and Frank didn't amazes me.

And Fedor > everyone on that list... combined.

Frank was one of the last guys cut out. I thought about going to 32 but that seemed a bit much. People have slept on Ken because of how bad he is now, but he was excellent in his early days. When you go back and look at Frank and who he has beat and who he has lost to, it does not stack up as well as you would expect.

I love Fedor, but he has not beaten enough people with a pulse to start making those kinds of statements.

top 5 most bad-ass from that list:

1. Royce
2. Nog
3. Randy
4. Fedor
5. Barnett

Cro Cop, Vov, Frank and Sakuraba need to be on that list. Maybe Yamamoto.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.
