The latest TUF

Post#1 » by El Hardee » Fri Apr 3, 2009 8:48 am

I forgot which number it is , but I was totally impressed with the Britts. Those dudes are ANIMALS, the fights were quick and brutal. No one really stood out too much, but what did was the heart and intensity they brought. If the U.S. team has a bunch Junie's running around like lowlives I might have to go for the Britts on this one. It was like watching a card full of Mexican flyweights fighting eachother.

Yeah, it looks like the Brits will have a solid team. Don't know how good of a coach Bisping will be though, and I think that could make a difference.

From the "next week on the Ultimate Fighter" clip at the end, it looks like Team USA is full of fail, but that's probably just the typical TUF hype to create drama. Maybe even make Team USA the underdogs somehow.

To be honest the whole coaching thing is just for the camera's, when Page and Forrest were cosches, Page would show up once in a while to get some footage for the show then bounce. From what I heard he was just a figure head for his team not a coach. It sorta made me think on how much time the head coach actually spends with the team.

No doubt the Brits will have a solid team. USA better too. don't understand why Rich Franklin was there, they said they didn't know who was going to be the coach and that Franklin and Hendo were going to fight. On UFC web page they have Franklin fighting Wanderlei next. IMO Wanderlei will destroy Franklin. Hendo vs Bisping will be good, I want to see Bisping lose.

^ The Ultimate Fighter isn't live, dude. Franklin and Henderson's fight at UFC 93 was to see who would be the coach for Season 9. Obviously these fights were held before that, so that's why they both were there.

As for the coaching, you could be right, but that could just be a Rampage thing and not a coaching thing. I would think a guy like Henderson would be a more capable coach, with all of his time at Team Quest. I could see Bisping being more of a figure head, which is why I think Team USA will have a coaching advantage.

The Brits looked good, but they were fighting other Brits, so the jury is still out. Australians can look good beating other Australians in basketball, but stepping up to the Americans will look a little different.

Not to say the Brits will not do well, just saying we do not know yet.

From a skillset standpoint, I wasn't overly wowed by the Brits. They have the heart and "eye of the tiger" stuff but without the proper skill set, that only means so much. I'm definitely intrigued, though.

I think the level of coaching varies from person to person. Henderson was super psyched about being the coach so I can see him spending a lot of time with the guys. Hardee would know better having Bader in his camp but I can imagine both Nog and Mir being really involved in the coaching last season. Unless that "family" stuff was all for show, I can see Nog having spent a lot of time with the team and working with them. And Mir is an extremely intelligent MMA guy and he super talented but his commitment and conditioning has been the question in recent years so I could see him spending a lot of time working with the fighters. mahalo

My bad, I missed 93. I got into this sport at UFC 84 and have watched all except 93 and the one where Rashad knocked out Chuck.

I actually was using Page as a example of a coach not being involved, I know 4 cats who been on the different seasons and Page and BJ were the 2 coaches that from what I heard werent very involved with their teams. I think Nog was very genuine in the way he cared for his team though.

Clearly the coaching has been a mixed bag. Guys like Tito, Forest, Jens and Nog seemed to care an awful lot. While guys like Shamrock, Penn and Rampage justy kind of mailed it in.

That finale is gonna be sick.

Diego Sanchez vs. Clay Guida (pretty much a #1 contender fight, at least if Diego wins....but if Guida wins, you've gotta give him some serious credit)
Nate Diaz vs. Joe Stevenson
Matt Brown vs. Anthony Johnson
Kevin Burns vs. Chris Lytle
Melvin Guillard vs. Thiago Tavares

Plus the two finals matches at WW and LW. Awesome.

Nate and Joe Daddy is going to awsome. Lay and Diego looks better on paper than the fight will be, Lay needs to get sub'd so he can quit l'n'p and atleast how to pass. I feel sorry for Matt Brown, Rumble is a scary dude. Why is Melvin still in the UFC? Awsome card though.

Man these guys are terrible. Watching these guys fight is nearly unbearable to watch. I recognized one of the fighters from a WEC event when get KO'd within seconds by Brock Larson.

I just cant stomach TUF, I tried to watch a bit of it last night but I just cant watch.

Second episode was alright.

The fights were fairly entertaining, I thought, even though they were a bit amateurish. Kinda sucked for those two training partners to have to go at it, especially because of the way it was stopped (not too bad, he wasn't defending well, but he could have continued), and I read that they were the 2nd and 3rd best guys for Team USA.

I'm pulling for Santino Defranco. Not because of the brain aneurysm thing, but because I laughed when I saw what he looked like. Needless to say, he doesn't really look like a "Santino Defranco."

I wonder what Rob Browning is going to be like. Jason Dent should dispose of him quickly, but you never know.

I think the UK Team looked better, but it's tough to say.

That Red head kid is my early favorite. He was balls out on a guy who actually looked somewhat decent.

Junie's brother is a reject who will try to live up to his brothers infamy. I watched his fights online, the kid stinks and is a clown.

Agreed on the red head kid. He looked legit.
