Re: UFC 98: Rashad Evans v Lyoto Machida
I don't know very much about Andre Gusmao, but the vegas line has him as a huge favorite to beat Alexander, almost 3 to 1.
I noticed most of his wins were K.O, which is Alexanders strength. Is he that much better, or is it worth throwing a few bills on Houston to win?

How on earth is Edgar going to beat Sherk? Sherk is better standing and better on the ground. Edgar needs to drop to 145 and head to the WEC.

If you are going to say something like Edgar will beat Sherk, you should probably be prepared to offer a reason why you think that. I don't think it's a huge huge stretch that it could happen, but you have to admit, Sherk is kind of a bad matchup for Edgar, as he's pretty much just a bigger and better version of himself.
I know you're kind of new to the sport, and I wouldn't want one of the only posters on this slow board to stop posting, but if you're not prepared to back up what you say (or just admit you're wrong), maybe you should just hang back and read for a while.

I'm not so sure. But damn this is an exciting match-up. It's been a while since 205 has had anything like this. I guess Hendo vs Rampage was the last.
Deep card beyond that.

Cuz everybody on this board including you think they are experts on this sport. Which none of you are. Is it illegal for me to pick Edgar over Sherk? No. I'm not rude like all of you. I also don't make an ass of myself and quote people's post and tell them how dumb the are. If you don't like my picks, keep it to yourself. I do when I don't like picks people on here make.

As the guy who quoted your post, I don't think I was rude or tried to make you look dumb. I just asked how you thought Edgar was going to win this fight. Edgar usually wins with his superior wrestling, but he is not a better wrestler than Sherk. Sherk is also very likely the better striker and in this fight, unlike most, he is also the bigger man. Maybe Edgar wins, but I do not see how.

Admittedly, sometimes I'm trying to be an ass, but this isn't one of those times.
What is so interesting about just making picks? God forbid we actually discuss the fights.

Re: UFC 98: Rashad Evans v Lyoto Machida
Did anybody think Edgar would beat Tyson Griffin? most likely not. but he did, and Griffin was superior wrestler in that fight. So why does my pick seem so crazy?

Re: UFC 98: Rashad Evans v Lyoto Machida
It is not impossible for Edgar to win this, but please elaborate on how he is going to beat Sherk. Edgar is a tough dude, but he is in there with a a-level LW. It would be great for Frankie's career if he could pull this one off, but I cant see it happening.Nemesis21 wrote:Did anybody think Edgar would beat Tyson Griffin? most likely not. but he did, and Griffin was superior wrestler in that fight. Sherk is a whole different level of wrestling to Tyson. Edgar and Tyson are much closer in their wrestling and you could argue Edgar had the striking advantage in that fight. Sherk is a different breed of dude.
We are talking about a guy in Sherk who is 33-3 and his only losses are to 3 future UFC Hall of Famers in GSP, BJ Penn, and Matt Hughes. And only one of those fights came at 155 pounds. Sherk is on a different level from Tyson Griffin. We are talking about a guy who KOed Benji Radach. Edgar beating Tyson was maybe a slight upset, but Edgar beating Sherk would be a massive one.

Again, I never criticized your pick. Only asked how you thought Edgar would win.
