Kimbo Slice on TUF 10

Post#1 » by Cammo101 » Tue Jun 2, 2009 7:52 am

So, this is a recipe for disaster. Kimbo Slice will be one of 16 Heavyweights on TUF 10, The Heavyweights. The idea of Kimbo, Rampage, and Rashad all on TUF next season makes me actually want to watch.

This is just the kind of trainwreck I love to see.

Awesome.

Good for him though. It shows he's somewhat serious about becoming an MMA fighter and not just chasing down big paydays by going with Strikeforce, Affliction, or going over to Japan.

I doubt he does very well, but the talent could be spread so thin that he might make some noise.

What will be interesting to see is if he gets some more fights with the UFC after going through the show but not winning.

I didn't mean he would get smoked in his first fight or anything. Chances are, most guys on the show would get completely steamrolled by a guy like James Thompson.

But on a show where other guys (and chances are there will be a few guys with strong ground games but no standup...collegiate wrestlers, etc) are fighting for their careers and not being paid to stand up (and god knows what else) by EliteXC, I don't see him winning it all.

If his coach picks a good matchup or two for him, then who knows. I'll bet he's fighting on the televised part of the finale though, whether it's in the finals matchup or not.

This will be interesting. All eyes on Kimbo again... We'll just have to see how it goes.

Joe Lauzon had a KO of Jens Pulver when he went on the show, I'd say thats pretty legit. I would really like to see Kimbo do well, it really shows his respect for the fight game, the dude made some serious cheese he could have just promoted porn and turned into some walking gimick, but he wants to be viewed and a real fighter big ups to Kimbo. He has much more earning pwr on his own than on 5 grand a win TUF. Kimbo FTW!

Now let's get Lashley in there and make things really interesting!

It shows they are hurting for ratings and trying to make a pop. Because the whole idea of TUF was to find unknowns.

As bad as this season has been on TUF, this is a good idea IMO.

I wasn't wowed at the time but he's decent.

Dana White invited Kimbo to join the show a while back. The point of TUF is to find fighters worthy of fighting in the UFC. Kimbo is an unproven guy and he'll get his shot. I'm psyched for this. I don't think Kimbo will win, but it will be very interesting.

What could the big news be at the end of the clip that will "change the UFC forever"?

Its not the worst move in the world.

For Kimbo it could actually work for some form of credibility. He's diss'd a lot in MMA, and obviously Dana White said "they only way he comes to the UFC is through TUF" which was intended as "he's bad, but he'll think its below him, but thats where he is at". But in reality, much like Lashley said, its a good way to get into the UFC, win some fans, and lets face it, he cant really get any more haters. And if he should end up in the UFC with a good showing, more power to him, he moves up from the 2bit EXC to the top show.

For the UFC there is alot of plus's, alot of people will watch it out of pure curiosity or whatever, some will watch to "see him fail" and some to see if he can walk through the competition.

The HW division need some filling out, its quite thin at the top, middle and the bottom end fighters are pretty dire in my view really. Hopefully TUF can add some guys in like it did for the LW division, just 3 or 4 guys that can either bring the bottom end closer to the middle guys, or just make the division a little deeper.

I call conspiracy, 1st Rashad and Page, now Dana "White Chocolate" is trying to throw Kimbo in the mix. Its very obvious he is trying to get the Brothas to follow the sport, much like what Bellator is doing for the Latino audience.

This is definitely a win-win for the UFC like the other poster said. The ratings for Season 10 will no doubt crush all the ones before it with just the Kimbo fans alone watching it. I can't wait to see Kimbo get clowned on again. I wonder if he'll quit if he gets his ass worked the first couple of matches he's in.

We've seen Kimbos groundwork, could he be the worst ground fighter ever to be on the show? The guy is worthless on the floor, he might even be worse than Brad Imes was.
