This is an embarrassment for Sylvia and MMA as a whole. He came in overweight and without training, and he got beat up by an old man. Maybe next time he is considering not training, he will remember he is the laughing stock of MMA and get his lazy butt in the gym.
This also got him booted off the next Affliction card, so it cost him a good deal of money.

Those guys pretty much had it spot on, from the boxing aspect to the potential loss of the Affliction fight. Sylvia was the only moron who thought this was a good idea.

I've got mixed feelings about this.
Part of me is really happy to see that big goof get KO'd in the early first round yet again. I wouldn't care if he never fought again.
However, I think more than that, I'm pissed off at Sylvia for single-handedly making MMA look like a 2nd rate sport. Regardless of which sport you prefer, the vast majority of fans of both boxing and MMA would have agreed that a boxer would get destroyed in an MMA fight against an MMA fighter, and vice versa, until now. Now a 48 year old washed up boxer beats a former UFC HW champion in his prime, by 1st round KO no less. How does that look?
Now we need to let Roy Jones Jr fight Anderson Silva or Nick Diaz in MMA to even things out.

Sylvia is such a joke. That almost looked staged the way he went down. But in reality he's just that bad.

Again, Cammo with ridiculous fighter bashing. From every account of Sylvia in the gym, he is an absolute workhorse. He endures more at the hands of Miletich than anyone ever before in that camp.
Have some respect.

Again, CBR to the rescue of guys who don't really deserve to be defended.
Let's just worship at the altar of Tim Sylvia and revel in his greatness.

I was referring to "lazy". I suppose it's Tim's athleticism that got him to the UFC title.

That's what I said, in short. Fantastic parody.

Most boards have rules against simply insulting fighters or athletes.

That was an MMA bout. They had to change it at the last minute.

He came into the fight over 300 pounds. Unless you are going on the assumption that he spent all his free time away from the gym at McDonalds, then I am going way out on a limb and predicting he did not train quite as much as old Pat would have liked.
I get that you feel that if a guy fights for a living no one on earth should ever be able to bad mouth them, so I will let Dana White do it for me...
“Are you kidding me, he seriously wants to return to the UFC? He hasn’t won a fight in years and when he did he usually put eveyone to sleep, the only time he’s in an exciting fight is when he’s getting his [expletive] ass handed to him.”
“Look, he just got beat by a near 50 year old in under 10 [expletive] seconds, how do you expect to be taken seriously after that? he just made MMA look like a complete joke. If he has any hopes of ending his career in (the) UFC he will have to go on TUF, there’s no other way he’s getting in.”

Those rules are needed on boards with a ton of traffic so they don't get flooded with "Tim Sylvia SUX" and "so and so is a ****" threads.
They aren't really needed here, and even if they were in place, I don't really think criticizing a 300+ lb Tim Sylvia for being lazy after he was KO'd in 10 seconds is really out of line.

Exactly. I am not going out and randomly bashing guys for no reason. But, if you quit because your mouthpiece might fall out or get owned by a 50 year old while 60 pounds overweight, then you deserve to be bashed.
Fighters are no different from anyone else, and if you open yourself up for criticism, then you are going to be criticized.

I respect every fighter that takes his craft seriously and gives it his all. Tim didnt do that. Not even close to that. All he was interested in was collecting a paycheck.
While all fighters deserve respect for putting it on the line every time they step in to the ring or cage, I think what Tim pulled was disrespectful to most of the fans in attendance. Because i guarantee most were there to primarily see him. And he mailed it in.

Well said.
