I hope Cain enjoyed being undefeated.

I like Velasquez better as a prospect, but in this fight, right now, I'm going with Carwin as well.

Only thing that kind of sucks, is that if these two guys are really fighting for a title shot, they probably won't be fighting the Lesnar/Mir winner until the Superbowl weekend card.

I guess with Mir's injury, and the champ vs. interim champ stuff there wasn't much to be done about it, but it sucks to see a champ defend his belt just once in a year.

We'll see how good velazquez's recovery time is in this fight. Kongo dropped him 3 times I believed but he quickly overcame that. But I'd imagine carwin hits much harder.

If Lesner wins, and Nog beats Randy, couldn't Nog get a shot?
They can't let Lesner wait that long, he needs wins and names under his belt.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.

If Lesnar/Mir and Couture/Nog creates a fresh matchup, I think they will do that first.

This Carwin/Velasquez fight is kind of insurance if it doesn't.

Shouldn't the Nog/Couture winner fight the Carwin/Velazquez winner for number 1 contender ?

Maybe, but the heavyweight division is pretty poor, they just can't wait that long. The division is pretty pityful.
Hopefully at least two guys can come out of the new tough, as at least decent heavyweights. They need the depth...badly.

I agree HW Div needs depth. That's why I'd like to see Arlovski come back for some fights.

In a vacuum, yeah. But that's never how these things end up. Carwin/Velasquez is in October, so that number one contender fight would be around January at the earliest. Then the #1 contender gets their shot in what, May?

That leaves Lesnar or Mir sitting around for almost a year. It's already been over 7 months since Brock's last fight, and 6 months for Mir.

I think they will do Lesnar/Nog or Mir/Couture at the year end show if one of those fights presents itself, and if not, then the winners of Lesnar/Mir vs. Cain/Carwin on the Superbowl weekend show.

What does Okami have to do to make the main card? He's a top 3 middleweight and the dude gets no respect.

This card is looks excellent.

I am looking forward to seeing Okami back, seems like its been yonks since he last fought, but surprised if that would be an under card fight.

UFC.com already has it listed as an under card fight. I don't see them bumping any of the main card fights to put Okami/Sonnen.

He doesn't. The guy's been slated to get that title shot since forever.
