UFC 100 nets 2nd-highest gate ever

Post#1 » by Shaazzam » Wed Jul 22, 2009 1:59 pm

NSAC executive director Keith Kizer said the July 11 show at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas had a live gate of $5,128,490, with 9,793 in paid attendance (1,078 tickets were comped for a total audience of 10,871).

The previous high was $5,397,300 for UFC 66, when 12,191 filled the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Dec. 30, 2006 and saw Chuck (The Iceman) Liddell successfully defend his title for the fourth straight time with a TKO win over Tito Ortiz in the main event.

Seriously, I expected more than that. They must be kicking themselves over the small venue.

What's the largest venue they've used so far, regarding number of seats? Off-hand Bell Centre comes to mind, guessing it's around 18k.

They have been to the Staples Center. I wonder how many seats that has?

The official PPV buyrate hasn't been released yet, I want to see where that number fell.
