UFC 106: Lesnar vs Carwin

Post#1 » by damo[23] » Wed Aug 19, 2009 5:56 pm

Running Update:

Card:

Brock Lesnar vs Shane Carwin (HW Title Fight)
Tito Ortiz vs Mark Coleman
Jon Fitch vs Ricardo Almeida
Kenny Florian vs. Clay Guida[
Karo Parisyan vs. Dustin Hazelett
Amir Sadollah vs. Phil Baroni

News / Updates:

Well the not so "breaking news", except the event I guess, of Coleman vs Ortiz has been announced, as the the thread topic suggests it will be at UFC106.

While Ortiz has hinted at a possible fight with Mark Coleman in recent interviews, Fighters Only Magazine is now reporting that Coleman agreed to the bout earlier today. The two former UFC champions have reportedly agreed to fight at the currently unannounced UFC 106, which is rumored to take place on November 21 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

So, it suggests around Nov 21 st (which has just reminded me my birthday is on a blinking monday), while its not totally un-expected that Ortiz comes back in Nov, I was half expecting the last card or first card of 2009 / 2010 respectively. Also have to say Coleman is staying a lot more active than I thought he would, which is great to see.

Should prove to be an interesting fight, and a solid tester for Ortiz after his lay off.

I'm wondering with Ortiz coming back, could we possibly see Chuck/Tito 3 ?

I hope this is like the 3rd fight from the top, but I have a bad feeling it will be like the co-main event, if not the main event itself.

There's no way they don't have this fight featured on the countdown show.

Rumour is the Carwin/Velasquez match has been scrapped and they're moving Shane straight into a title fight against Lesnar at 106.

Personally i think it'll be a great fight and is the best move overall.

I think Brock will take him down and pound him personally, but he deserves the shot.

This card already looks awesome. I think it can clear 1.25 million PPV buys.

Unless Carwin catches him on the feet with a bomb. :D That guy throws some mean lunchboxes as well.

I was sort of expecting something like this to come out of the Tito Ortiz signing. I say Ortiz takes the decision.

As a token performance for the fans perhaps, but Chuck's already beaten Tito twice in the UFC. I'll pass on that.

right on, wasn't saying I wanted to see Chuck /Tito 3 . Just wondering since both will be coming off a few losses, Chuck with losses recently to Shogun and Rashad and Ortiz with losses to Lyoto and soon Coleman

If Tito looses this fight...he's going to be a punching bag in the UFC.

Hey hey hey, it has just occurred to me that UFC 106 is going to be some time in November. Know what else is supposed to be in November...? Fedor's debut.

Hmmmmmm.

Strikeforce won't put Fedor's fight on the same night, but all the Lesnar UFC ads will take away the buzz around Fedor that month.

You can add Baroni/Sadollah to this card. I thought the UFC would give Amir an easy fight considering how his last fight went but i guess not.

This fight is a recipe for disaster for Sadollah. He better get it to the ground quickly.
