If he is that sick, my best wishes, but I do have that feeling that its another media thing to build up a return. We see it all the time, make things sound more dramatic so that the return is even greater, think Paul Pierce in the finals ... or Massa in F1 this year, I mean Massa was on "deaths bed" one day, then chatting to the media a few days later about how he can't wait to get back in the car etc ....

But either way, heres to a recovery, even if he can't fight again.

I would be extremely surprised if this was some sort of media stunt. They do not need one for Lesnar, who sells billions either way. Rumor is his kidney's might be failing.

Is anywhere else reporting this exact injury/surgery?

I don't see it anywhere besides this Bleacher Report article, which is about as credible as Wikipedia.

I know he's in rough shape, and it's true that Dana White has said he may never fight again, but I think anything beyond that is just speculation at this point.

Yah this is definitly too news worthy to not have a credible source. If this is true I find it hard to believe Bleacher Report is the only one reporting on it.

I mean they called it the world famous May clinic  . Lets not jump the gun on Lesnar just yet.

Is it similar to what Alonzo Mourning had?

USA Today is reporting Intestinal Bacteria Infection. Also a lot of talk that he has something called Diverticulitis. That is not confirmed though. Below is a link to what it is.

I wish him the best of luck on his recovery. I think he will be back. Whatever it is I'm sure Lesnar is determined to beat it and fight again.

I know there is some speculation on Sherdog that he might have Crohn's Disease. Just from experience with dealing with Crohn's patients, I highly doubt his medical team would pursue surgery this quickly without taking pharmaceutical measures first. It is most likely something else, although it's really tough to say at this point.

Regardless, any type of GI infection or disorder is going to result in a drastic loss of weight and muscle mass. Even if he recovers "quickly" (I'm talking within a half year to a year), it may take another half year to a year just for him to build up the strength he currently has. Then of course there's the issue of probable relapse, if it is indeed an auto immune disorder.

Very messy situation, I wish him all the best. You can say what you want about the guy, but he made things interesting and was an entertaining fellow to watch.

I wish him the best. I hate Brock Lesnar, but this is horrible news for not just his fans, but for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.

Ugh, another interim HW titleshot.

Carwin vs Cain?

Mir vs Nog II next in line

I would like to see a 4 man mini tourney for it. Carwin vs. dos Santos and Cain vs. Nog. Winners fight for the title.

That could work very well.

Dana White-

about 2 hours ago from TwitterBerry

This is good news compared to the earlier reports we've heard.

Not a media stunt, but lets put it this way, the media always likes to embellish, for whatever reason, you really don't need to cast your mind back far, when Massa had his crash in F1 a few months ago, reports were out that he was near death / dying in hospital, and I mean from fairly good "media sources" such as the BBC, few days later he was fine.

I am not saying he's faking it like Paul Pierce, but I could well imagine this "may never fight again" is just a dramatic interpretation of the limited info they have.

Nog and dos Santos would never agree to that.

Lesnar could return in July

Article also mentions Boston as a possible location for the Lesnar/Carwin fight.
