The #2 and #3 fights on this card are **** ridiculous.
(And that's not in a good way).

Interesting seeing the first Gracie in the UFC since Royce. Hopefully he's not all BJJ.

I have no idea what the UFC is thinking with this Couture vs. Coleman fight. Why not give Coleman to Vera and have Couture fight the winner of Rashad and Thiago?

Weak card. But exciting main event.
Man Al Turk seems like a punching bag the UFC throws out whenever they want to make a name for a fighter lol

I thought he looked solid until Cro Cop poked him in the eye.

I thought Hughes/Renzo was happening at 109?

It was, but now it's not. I hear they are going to give Renzo a warm up fight first.
I think this Couture vs. Coleman fight is garbage (combined age of 90!). It could be a decent fight if their wrestling cancels each other out, but it's still the kind of fight that Randy should be getting after a loss, not after a win. Maybe the UFC is going ahead under the idea Randy lost the fight?
I guess it's better than what I thought would happen. I really thought he would be getting a title shot, or at least a fight against the Tito/Forrest winner for one.

The UFC matchmaking lately seems off.
Randy should get the winner of Rashad and Silva and Vera should fight the loser of the same fight.

I kind of disagree, considering that the winner of Rashad/Silva is close to getting a titleshot at winner of Machida/Shogun for the championship. I don't think beating Vera moves Randy that far up the LHW division, even if he is Randy.
It sucks that currently only 2 of the UFC's 5 champs are not either sick or injured, and rumor is Machida will fight Shogun again in Montreal in MAY.

Machida has beat both Rashad and Silva. Rua can probably beat both those guys too. If Machida wins, im praying that Rashad and Silva isnt for #1 contender. Man they really need rampage to come back. Either way, Couture vs Coleman doesnt make much sense for anyone, but its not like either of them are goign anywhere, atleast I hope randy isnt...
And if Silva v Belfort gets pushed back again I will cry.

Yeah I think the Rashad/Silva winner needs at least another fight before the title shot because as you mentioned, both guys just lost to Machida.
I'm excited to see Lil Nog and Cane, one of them could be in the mix soon. And you never know, maybe this 'new' Tito, who is 'finally' healthy surprises people against Forrest.

I'm guessing the Rashad/T. Silva winner will now fight the Ortiz/Griffin winner for a title shot in the spring, if Machida and Rua are having a rematch in May. If Rashad and Forrest win (which is probably the most likely scenario), that may change things though.
If Rampage comes back, that changes everything, of course.
Franklin and Jardine are supposed to fight at some point in the next few months as well. Maybe the winner of that will see the winner of Cane/Lil Nog?
Things usually don't get tied up as neatly as they do in my head though...

I was thinking the same thing. I really don't want to see Couture versus Coleman. What an awful idea.
Then again, maybe this is the UFC's way of keeping Randy in one piece for the meantime. He just signed a pretty lengthy contract. How many more good or at least anticipated fights can he put together if he keeps getting smashed early on.

Couture/Coleman makes fine sense to me. Does anyone really want to see Couture out there against Evans or another top LHW who will just beat him around? This way the fans get to see Randy in a fight he stands a decent chance in and it doesn't get in the way of a potential #1 contender match. Randy signed a 6 fight deal, so the UFC doesn't want him out there getting massacred at the half-way point of his contract. It's a win for all parties imo. Yeah if some young guy had beaten Vera he'd probably get a better opponent, but you've got to play it a little differently when your guy is 46. They have Couture fighting because a lot of fans love him, not because he's a serious contender to hold the LHW title.

Contractually and arguably even business wise this fight makes sense. But in terms of the sport of MMA? Normally when you beat someone of a high calibur, the next step is to fight a guy of even higher caliber, of which Coleman is not.

I think the only reason the UFC is feeding Coleman to Couture is to give Randy another win under his belt. Then after that fight they can throw somebody else to him that will make the UFC more money. Cuz as big of a draw Randy is, if he keeps loosing his value will decrease.
My opinion, let Liddell train and fight somebody and then throw Randy at him for one last time.

I would rather see Chuck and Tito again than Chuck and Randy. IMO Randy will beat Coleman and then fight the Machida/Shogun winner.

I agree. Or how about Vera vs Bonnar ?
