Awesome free card.

Nice to see them put on some good shows now that guys are getting healthy.

Love Spencer Fisher, love him.

James Irvin vs. Alessio Sakara ---- sort of ridiculous. I'm surprised to see Irvin hasn't fought in 18 months, since the Silva loss.

Wow they're entering Versus with a bang. Usually Spike FN cards feature a solid main event with some up-and-comers and TUF guys. This is much better.

The legend of Jon Jones will grow after a very entertaining fight. I hope.

The losses of AJ and Fisher are big. Those guys are always animals, but also always technical.

Final card 12 days out:
Undercard:

Darren Elkins vs. Duane Ludwig
Mike Pierce vs. Julio Paulino
Jason Brilz vs. Eric Schafer
Chase Gormley vs. Brendan Schaub
John Howard vs. Daniel Roberts
Eliot Marshall vs. Vladimir Matyushenko
Clay Guida vs. Shannon Gugerty

Main Bouts:

James Irvin vs Alessio Sakara
Cheick Kongo vs. Paul Buentello
Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Junior dos Santos
Jon Jones vs. Brandon Vera

This isn't nearly as stellar. I'd imagine the UFC is just making sure the prelims are deep enough that there will be at least 3 bangers they can squeeze in between maincard bouts. But it's not huge on talent.

JDS is a contender. That's the most serious fight. The headlining fight is awesome as well. But the other two main card fights are just on there because none of those 4 would ever clinch of take the fight to the ground. They're K-1 bouts.

I wish they would lose the Irvin fight from the main card and replace it with Marshall and Vlady.

Why?

They are both completely irrelevant as far as the title picture goes, but Irvin/Sakara figures to be fairly exciting, while Marshall/Matyushenko has a better than average chance of being pretty boring.

And look at it this way, Irvin/Sakara should probably end quickly, leaving time for Marshall/Matyushenko to make the card if it does end up being entertaining. You can't say the same the other way around.

That's true I guess. I just think the Marshall/Vlady fight has bigger implications. But, most likely both get shown.

Very good countdown show for this event, got me really excited.

For a free event was much longer than I'd expect, the Jones vs Vera section was over 20 minutes by itself.

From a marketing/ratings perspective, whenever Guida is on free tv he should be on a main card.

All fighters made weight, with a bit of a "issue" so to speak about Brendon Schaub's weight.

http://mmajunkie.com/news/18374/ufc-on- ... esults.mma

he full weigh-in results included:

MAIN CARD

* Jon Jones (206) vs. Brandon Vera (204)
* Junior Dos Santos (238) vs. Gabriel Gonzaga (255)
* Paul Buentello (246) vs. Cheick Kongo (237)
* James Irvin (185) vs. Alessio Sakara (185)

PRELIMINARY CARD

* Shannon Gugerty (155) vs. Clay Guida (155)
* Eliot Marshall (204) vs. Vladimir Matyushenko (205)
* Darren Elkins (155) vs. Duane "Bang" Ludwig (155)
* John Howard (170) vs. Daniel Roberts (169)
* Chase Gormley (265) vs. Brendan Schaub (245)*
* Julio Paulino (170) vs. Mike Pierce (170)
* Jason Brilz (205) vs. Eric Schafer (205)

* - Schaub was announced as 264 pounds., but the scale appeared to show significantly less. Schaub also appeared surprised at the result. A commission official later told MMAjunkie.com the official amount was actual 245 pounds.

Have to say it being a sunday event is slightly annoying because it will be a bit disjointed for me to watch, don't think I'll get to see it right through until either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Yeah it's lame, they should have had it tonight.

Ludwig was a mess at the weigh-in, he wore his weight-cutting plastics onto the stage and looked ready to fall over.

Eek. Even worse, Irvin has dropped 20 pounds to get to 185 and genuinely looks like an AIDS patient. WTF? It's gross. Balding hasn't helped how disconcerting it is.

I take it Irving has suffered a couple knee surgeries and a pain killer addiction, hence his absence and some of his ability to drop weight classes.
