Mousasi is definitely great competition.

They are definitely rushing the Mousasi vs. King Mo fight, but really, who else is there at 205 in Strikeforce that is remotely interesting?

And while I don't think King Mo is ready for Mousasi, he does pose an interesting threat, in that he is by FAR the best wrestler Mousasi has faced. In fact, the gap between Mousasi's toughest wrestler opponent and King Mo might actually be bigger than King Mo's toughest opponent and Mousasi (I hope that made sense). Of course, it's not a wrestling match, but we know how effective wrestling can be in MMA, especially "American" MMA with the cage and the judging the way it is. So this is a pretty interesting matchup to me, even though Mousasi is the clear favourite.

The other fights we've known for a while, and with no disrespect meant to either of their opponents, they should pretty much be walks in the park for Fedor and Hendo.

The thing is that even if Mo is able to bring Gegard down when he wants Gegard is better on the ground and is more likely to sub Mo than Mo is to ground and pound him to submission.

Quote from Alistair Overeem:

"I will definitely fight Fedor this year. There's no doubt about it, unless he says no. I don't believe he will, but I’m a little worried about his managers. I'm sure he wants to fight, but I’m not sure people behind him do too."

I have my doubts, unless this is a SF/Dream co-promotion in Japan.

Yeah, he just booked a fight with someone for late April, when I think he was supposed to fight in Strikeforce in May.

It's not happening.

They need to strip him of that title.

Alistair fights in close proximity fairly often. He fought MMA and K-1 3 weeks apart late last year. So IDK.

This is true, but then he avoids actual competition and fights guys like Fujita.

You never know with him.

I think the horse meat has gone to his head.

So, they still don't have a date, venue, or any officially announced fights for this "April CBS card."

All of that might not be such a big deal if not for the latest speculation that Fedor will be off the card, probably Mousasi as well, and it will be a Hendo vs. Shields main event with Lashley and Walker possibly on the undercard.

I read somewhere that the "Fedor off the card" rumor was bogus.

I sure hope so.

I actually hope it's true.

I want to see Fedor fight, and even though Werdum is a quality opponent, I can't say I'm super stoked for that fight. Probably the least excited about it of his last 5 opponents actually (Sylvia, Arlovski, Barnett, Rogers).

Not only that, but the word is that if Fedor isn't fighting Werdum on CBS, he'll be fighting Overeem next, possibly in Japan. I would much rather see that fight.

Besides, every failure on the part of Strikeforce/M-1/whoever brings Fedor closer to where he should be.

Fedor/Werdum is rescheduled to May. This seems fishy. I hope Overeem is put against Fedor since he said he wanted to fight in May.

Feder vs. Overeem is the only fight I want to see for Fedor in SF.

I am sure I was reading on my phone yesterday that Fedor's management would/will ask Overeem for a drug test pre-fight if they were to fight.

Let me see if I can find a link.

Yeah, you were.

This whole situation is not looking great for Strikeforce.

From the sounds of it, Fedor is very unlikely to fight on this April 17 show, which is supposed to be a CBS show, and is now more likely to fight in May. The big problem with that, is that his contract stipulates that he only fight on CBS events. So either they have to have back to back CBS events in the span of a month, or put the April show on Showtime, which could piss off the fighters signed for that event (like Shields and Henderson).

Plus there's all of this talk about Overeem going on as well. I guess if you move the possibility of a failed drug test from the equation with ongoing pre-fight testing, the fight could possibly be in the states, but I would not bet on Overeem fighting in the US anytime soon. Kind of interesting to put him on the spot like that though.

I guess the confusing aspect to me is why the **** is the Fedor fight going to now take place in May as opposed to April?

I think it's because they dragged their ass securing a date and venue, and he wanted enough time for a training camp. It's still about 2 months away, but I guess it's not as much time as he needs. I would think that behind the scenes they would have told him he was fighting Werdum on this date, but he probably wanted a confirmed date so he could time everything right. That's the only explanation I've seen anyway.

There's also some talk of Mousasi leaving M-1 complicating things, because the M-1 copromotion deal hinged on having both Fedor and Mousasi.

Bloody Elbow hinted that Fedor's management wants more money, although there is no source to back up that claim.

Fedor and his management team clearly believe they didn't get paid enough for Fedor's first CBS event for Strikeforce. They also have utter confidence that Fedor's value in the market place is rising. They're missing a huge bird in the hand payday -- and more importantly missing out on the incredible US market exposure that CBS can provide.
