He and Brenneman are both nice prospects. Should make for a real good fight.

on paper, it looks like a lot of competitive fights albeit with unknowns. Still good for free tv.

Gomi at +250 is really, really tempting. Someone talk me out of it.

Tempting odds, but KenFlo is gonna run him over.

I'll probably take that bet if I can find it. My site doesn't have the UFN odds up yet.
I think Florian will win, but it's more a case of not expecting the best Gomi to show up than thinking Florian is a much better fighter. If both are on top of their games, I think Gomi wins this fight more often than not.
I'm not going to say Florian is overrated, because I do think he's a very good fighter, but he sure is regarded pretty highly for beating Stevenson, Huerta, and Guida.
I'm really looking forward to this fight though. Love fights that shed some light on the UFC LW division vs. Japan's.

He also has wins over Joe Lauzon, Sam Stout, and Mishima. 10-3 in the UFC is extremely impressive, especially considering the level of talent he has faced. Also...
KenFlo finishes fights!!!!!

Do Lauzon, Stout, and Mishima really make you a consensus top 3 LW though? Even combined with his Huerta, Stevenson, and Guida wins? I'm not sure where they were at the time, but does Kenny even have a win over a top 10 guy? Definitely no current top 10ers...probably not even top 15.
I think he's going to win, but again, it's because of how Gomi has looked lately, not necessarily because of how good Florian is. Given that Gomi is actually younger, there's still a chance he can put things back together.

I don't think anyone else's recent resume is much better. Aoki has a nice win over Alvarez and wins over some other solid guys, but he has lost 2 of his last 8 and he is getting the home court treatment in Japan.
I'm not sure who has a better resume to be #3 behind Penn and Aoki. Kawajiri has not fought much top competition lately and when he does, he has lost. Edgar and Maynard have feasted on second tier guys. Alvarez is prettyu spotty against top tier guys. Melendez has not fought much level of competition.
I get your point, but when you dig deeper, I do not know who you could say has a better resume. IMO KenFlo has a better resume than Aoki and the only reason he is behind him is because he has lost more recently.

That's a fair assessment, and I probably agree.
I guess my point is just that it's so close at the top that being #3 in the world doesn't really mean the same thing as it might in another weight class. I think there's a first tier that is just Penn by himself, and then a second tier with 5-10 guys, if not more. You could make a case for Florian being as high as #2, and probably as low as the bottom half of the top 10. It doesn't really matter, he's just in that group.
Gomi's probably not in that group at the moment, but he definitely has been in the past, and at 31, it's not out of the question that he gets back in. Many people see him as washed up, but it's not like his physical tools are gone, nor is he so battle worn that he can no longer defend himself. It's pretty much a dedication thing. Maybe he's excited to be in the UFC and will train and perform like it. Maybe he will fold under the pressure of fighting in the US in the world's biggest promotion. It all depends on which Gomi shows up.
For what it's worth, Gomi would probably be Florian's biggest win to date.
I just think it's a closer fight than the odds are indicating, though I'm somewhat prepared for Florian going in and putting on a clinic.

Roy Nelson is a beast. He throws some of the hardest punches in the heavyweight division.

Though the words 'Arianny' and 'vibrator' leave a dirty image in my mind.

Kenny dominated the fight. I was disappointed with Gomi, it looked like he had no game plan whatsoever. Who is next for Kenny? I think Maynard could be a good possibility for a potential shot at BJ.
