Maybe it's because i didn't get to watch his prime years, but if the timeframe that everyone talks about Hogan in(WCW/NWO, and in the WWF just before then) are what people watch too, I don't get the hype.

His promos were good, I guess, but he NEVER wrestled, and when he did, it was just so cowardly, maybe that was his heel gimmick, still, I never bought the hype.

I actually hated the whole WCW/NWO era Hogan was in. At that point, he wasn't the same as he used to be and was past his prime. He really didn't wrestle and if he did, if was a joke. They were milking him simply because of his name.

I started watching wrestling in the late 80s/early 90s when Bam Bam Bigalo was wrestling and for a while I was a huge fan. Then I found out about Hulk Hogan and it was a wrap. As for Hogans actual skill as a wrestler, I agree, I don't consider them all time great like you would compare to Bret Hart or Ric Flair. But what made him an all-time great was how he manipulated the crowd. No wrestler had the ability he did and I'll say, probably won't ever have.

He could demoralize guys just by getting the crowd behind him which showed how much of an influence he had over many of his peers.

The Rock was ALWAYS a fan favorite, and was a much better performer in the ring than Hogan. How can you adore Hogan for his charisma and downplay the Rock for his?

The Rock had just so much swagger around him, I've never seen a promo from the rock that I didn't at least enjoy.

While The Rock may not be a technician in the ring, the guy was still way above average. He more than held his own. And when it comes to working the mic he is one of the all time greats. The guy still has it to, he randomly cut some promo about the Miami v Ohio State game that was just nostalgic epicness. I'm starting to wonder if there will ever be anyone as impactful as him or Stonecold again. They just keep striking out.

Vince used to be able to just spit out characters man. Back in the 90's and early 2000's when he had Angle, HHH, The Rock, Stone Cold, The Undertaker, The Big Show, Y2J, Kane etc. And still had guys like Edge waiting in the wings to take over. Now who are thei main eventers? They have a couple good ones in Orton, Edge, Punk(though he isn't exactly getting main event love), Cena (who is bleh), Sheamus(who is ok) and Barret possibly? And then an old Undertaker, oldish Kane and an old Bigshow. While they refuse to give the keys to guys like Morrison, Koffi, Danielson, Christian, MVP etc.

I just don't think it will ever be the same.

Charisma - if you're charismatic then you're going to be in good hands with the wwe because a good promo makes the feud interesting
Sell - if you can sell merchandise then you'll get a lot of tv time and since selling is another way of being over, you'll get pushed
Reaction - if you can generate heat or cheers then you'll always be on the wrestling card

of course if you can do all 3 then you're in the same spot as the rock, stone cold, john cena, etc
