I had a Rocker's t-shirt and I remember when Shawn kicked him through the Barbershop window.

Didn't miss it all.

That was in 1991. HBK as a singles wrestler was so much more amazing than him as a tag-team partner.

It would be cool to see some of the heels take on a persona like Jake the Snake where he'd terrorize his opponents and create good storylines out of it. Right now they make their belts worth nothing from the way they book stuff but then center their matches around capturing a belt.

We could definitely use a creepy character like Jake the Snake and a young heelish Undertaker character. Maybe someone taking a Rosemary's Baby character. Mankind was a sick character when developed originally too.

I believe the last time they tried this was Boogeyman. That didn't work out too well.

Ya, that was pretty horrible but it was a bad attempt.

You know it's funny that you mention that because I saw Foley talking about the development of the Mankind character and how Vince saw it slightly different than when he debuted with that freaky gimmick. And the sketch and look was supposed to be slightly different. Just brings back how important the smallest of things can alter peoples perceptions of a character. Hence, Tensai's struggles to keep strong. He needed a mask of some sort bad.

I was a HUGE fan through the 80's. My mom used to terrorize me about it being fake, and I used to get upset. It was probably early in Undertaker's run that I realized it was fake. Mostly because they tried to portray him as the "deadman". Obviously he wasn't dead, then I recognized him as "Mean" Mark Callous from WCW.

I have a hard time watching it now. I'm not obsessed like I used to be. Maybe a couple times a year I'll catch an episode. When I was a kid I wouldn't have missed a show for the world. I had well over 50 of those old WWF wrestling guys and used to put on my own shows. New tag teams, stables, feuds...

I never commented in this thread because I didn't want to bump it, but since someone else recently has...

I always get really annoyed when someone says wrestling is fake, like the million bumps these guys take every year aren't real, like the pain they put their body through to entertain us is just all a game for them.

Droz got paralyzed in the ring off a botched powerbomb, if the ring was just a big trampoline that couldn't hurt you, Bob Holly wouldn't have missed a year of action after sandbagging a Brock Lesnar powerbomb.

If they never make contact with each other why is there huge welts all over the dudes bodies? Why are guys getting busted open?

Why are 90% of former wrestlers in bad shape or dead in their damn 40s and 50s if it's all fake? Why are almost all these dudes on painkillers (which lead to deaths also) if it's all just a big fun trampoline.

I always think of Jim Ross saying "Oh sure theres some dummy in Idaho saying they're trained they know how to fall, how do you learn how to fall off a 20 foot ladder?" Exactly JR.

Theres a difference between fake and scripted. I realize most of you understand this but I just felt I should type it out for anyone who doesn't, because these guys put themselves through hell to entertain us.

To the OP's question, I don't ever not remember it being scripted. I grew up in the 90s and my mom only let me watch it because she told me it was scripted, and wouldn't let me watch Ultimate Fighting. Good thing she didn't because wrestling made me crazy enough, those old school Ken Shamrock ultimate fighters were **** sick.

Yea, it may be "scripted" but you can't fake pain.
