That, I agree with. Bryan should have kicked out of the initial pin attempt, fought back for 2 or 3 minutes and than taken a punt in defeat.

Yeah. DB should've struggled to get to his knees after the pedigree, then punted by Orton.

According to our correspondents, after the SummerSlam pay-per-view event went off the air, a dejected Daniel Bryan sat at the top of the ramp while the crowd chanted "No! No! No!" and "bullsh-t!"

Posted below is a photo that one of our readers sent in of Bryan after the event went off the air.

LOVED the concept of the ending, the execution was a little left to be desired.

I think the WWE really wanted to focus on DB winning cleaning, losing dirty. The "stop" between the two and having DB do nothing could have been a bit better - I like a mini "worn out fight" where DB suffers a couple of finishers (surprise ped, then maybe a set up RKO) and just has to give in to exhaustion.

However, I think if this is the feud for the next while (2-3 PVPS) then I am happy. I am for sure an Orton fan (really happy to see him champ again) and DB is probably the best in ring performer atm - so we could have some awesome battles - plus I am quite excited to see Evolution II form again!

Was a great PVP - thought there were some great fights - I was disappointed to see ADR retain, but Christian didnt make sense to me as a champ at all - there was a joke on reddit that they are really trying to devlue that smackdown belt - but it kind of does feel a bit like that atm lol - no real big contenders for it unfortunately.

I really liked the punk lesnar finish I have to say, just hit the right note - Lesnar gets the win he needs, Punk can take a loss, but in that manner it doesnt even feel like a loss.

In regards to had bad the timing was on the Trips pedigree to the pin, I always find it extremely eye roll worthy when someone hits a finisher while interfering with a match (or in this case, a soon to be match). It always takes too long for the cover to happen in situations like that.

Also, as for "taking everything Cena had" but being laid out by 1 move from Trips, that, too, is something that has been eye-roll worthy, at least since kicking out of finishers has become "the norm". Whenever someone interferes, they do 1 move, and it's enough to knock a guy out cold, despite the fact that the guy was probably just beaten down with a chair, smashed through a table, and then thrown off the top rope, yet was still in position to win the match.

What is it I'm trying to say really? Just that what happened Sunday isn't new in terms of execution...If it was bad Sunday (which it wasn't) then it's been bad for the last 20+ years.

OK, I haven't watched wrestling since they botched the Invasion angle... I don't know any of the new names (CM Punk and Orton would be considered "new" to me). I noticed SummerSlam was just starting, so I sat down, watched it, and enjoyed the hell out of it and felt like I was 10 all over again. A bit dismayed that dudes kick out of finishers all the time now... but whatever.

Question... in terms of entertainment value for WWE PPVs over the past decade or so, where would this event fit? Top tier? Average?

ER 2012 was better than Summerslam. In fact it might be the best of this decade, depending on how much value you ascribe to Punk-Cena at MITB. ER had a better top to bottom card (3 top 10 MOTY), but MITB had the match that will define both Punk's career and this era.

I was lucky enough to be at MITB 2011, and that was the best PPV in a long long time. Both MITB matches were killer with good shock finishes (at the time NOBODY would have predicted Bryan to win, in fact on the ride there we were discussing how Bryan was the only we thought was a lock NOT to win), Punk/Cena delivered, and Orton/Christian was a 5 star match IMO, even though the finish left alot to be desired

Extreme Rules 2012 was an interesting show because you had three tremendous matches, one match (Orton-Kane) that wasn't very good and 4 matches that were basically throwaway matches. What differentiates Summerslam from that is that I thought every match, with the exception of the opener, basically delivered. You had three really good matches in the double main event plus Christian-ADR, the Rhodes-Sandow match I can't say it was a great match because Cody essentially dominated it but as a showcase match for Rhodes I thought it certainly delivered. The mixed tag, was about as good as you'd expect a match like that to be and even the divas match was I thought a little better than your typical divas match especially for a match that didn't have AJ. And that's not including the pre-show match which wasn't as good as I'd hoped but was very solid.

So I think if comparing the top 3 of Summerslam with the top 3 of Extreme Rules I think I'd give the narrowest of margins to Extreme Rules but the rest of the card, Summerslam is significantly better.
