When Doink was played by Matt Borne - who was the first Doink - he was a really good performer. Unfortunately, they had other rasslers portray him later on that were nowhere near as good. Borne was great with the psychology and actually a really good wrestler.
One mid to lower carder in WCW and the WWE (stuck with horrible gimmicks in both) who I thought was as entertaining as anyone for a few years in ECW was... Shane Douglas. Paul Heyman let Douglas be basically an over-the-top version of Douglas, and he was fabulous. It was hard to believe this was the same guy who was John Laurinitis' other Dynamic Dude and the guy stuck in the Dean Douglas gimmick. Douglas probably could have been a big star in WCW or WWF. In 1990, he signed with WWF and had a great Royal Rumble performance, but he had to quit to take care of his father. He later came back to WCW and became tag team champs with Rickey Steamboat. But Paul Heyman was the only one who figured out how to use him - and when he was in shape and sober, Shane was a lot of fun and a great entertainer.
