I decided to watch this show, hadn't seen a single NXT UK show at all. I mainly wanted to see Dunne v Coffey because Pete Dunne is amazing, and then Rhea v Toni because I like Rhea and her style. Plus, when I tried to watch a match I randomly thought about from the past, I logged in and it kept saying that you had to be a subscriber (I've been leeching off of my cousin for the past few years)...so I made the hard decision to just become a network subscriber myself...and I want to get the most out of my money...so Takeover Blackpool was a great way to start.
The tag title match was great. I haven't really seen Bate wrestle much with the exception of the occasional appearance on Raw during 205 or a match or two in NXT (I don't watch NXT religiously like a lot of you do). The last match of his I remember best was when he lost the title to Dunne. So I know he's great, but it definitely looks like he added some good muscle, he looks a little bit bigger. Still put on an amazing match, I thought the other two were going to win anyways, just because it seemed like it would have been to obvious to give the titles to MM to begin with. But great match, I enjoyed it.
So thanks to WWE for spoiling this next match, I already knew Finn was going to be wrestling at this show. So I didn't get to enjoy the surprise of seeing Finn go against Devlin. But what a great match these two had. It was a lot of fun, hard hitting and for a little over 10 minutes, not bad at all. You can definitely see that the main roster tries to limit their stars, my guess is to prevent injuries from happening, so they just have them go through the motions. Didn't seem like Finn had any chains holding him back, so that was nice.
I almost skipped over Mastiff v Dennis, only because I don't know who either of these dudes are, but I decided to give it a shot and these two came out swinging right away. I was glad that it was a short match too because when it comes to these hardcore style matches, they can really start to take a toll on the body when they become super long. But a great match, very hard hitting, good finish.
Rhea v Storm was great. I'm not sure if it's just Toni's character that she plays, but it seemed like she was a little uneasy to start the match, wasn't sure if what had happened to her during the past couple of weeks was really effecting her mentality, but she overcame that obstacle for this match and put on a great bout with Rhea. I was okay with her winning but I thought Rhea would of had a longer reign but I have no doubt that Toni will be an amazing champ.
Dunne v Coffey, wow. What a freaking match. It started a little slow but it really picked up. The hard hitting style these two brought, the submissions these two were doing, the moves, great. Quite a few false finishes too but still fun. I did think that it was a little bit odd with the finish though. Like, he hits the bitter ending, he kicks out and then reverses whatever Coffey does into his submission hold and Coffey taps IMMEDIATELY...I thought that he should have stayed in that hold for even just 30 seconds...the title is on the line, you've just gone through hell to try and win and you've come so close numerous times...to just tap in .23234345 seconds? Eh, okay. Still a great match, maybe I'm nitpicking a little.
I don't know much about WALTER but the hype was real. They loved that he booted Coffey right out of the ring.
All in all, great show, very enjoyable.
Kobe Bryant was asked who he feels is the toughest opponent to guard in the NBA. Instead of picking OKC's Kevin Durant, Bryant went with Portland’s Brandon Roy.
"Roy 365 days, seven days a week. Roy has no weaknesses in his game."
