Your Wrestling Consumption Now and in the Future: A Poll

Post#1 » by Stanford » Thu Aug 22, 2019 5:42 pm

I was listening to the Masked Man Show earlier and heard Shoemaker and his guest discussing the possibility that SD! could be hurt by NXT and AEW filling time on Wednesday night. The argument is that by Friday evening, wrestling fans will have been confronted with 5 hours of WWE television and 2(?) hours of AEW. This begs the question, how much wrestling are people willing to watch?

So I'm curious: how much wrestling are you watching now, and how much do you think you'll watch in the future? Take the average of the past 6 months and project what you'll be watching for the 6 months after the NXT/AEW/SD! stuff comes together.

Also, some questions: Do you think the placement on the weekly schedule is problematic for Smackdown! when it moves to Friday nights? Are viewers likely to skip whatever comes on last in the week, or watch everything until they become fatigued? What happens then? A lot has been said about AEW choosing the right time to try to compete, but is this actually the worst possible time, given the over saturation of the wrestling market at the moment?

Rumor has it that Smackdown will be going to 3 hours...

I honestly don't know how much I'll be watching especially with the best time of the year for sports
starting in early October. I'll probably just PVR everything and watch whenever I can. Also can't sit
through a show with a bunch of commercials saves so much time skimming through them.

I've already cut out Impact Wrestling because it's to much of a pain in the ass to try and find it and
205 Live because it sucks. If there was more hours in the week I'd go out of my way to watch NJPW
and MLW. I do watch ROHs weekly Sunday Night show but odds are I'm gonna cut out ROH now starting
this fall.

Also what is the masked man show?

Well now its gone down to 0-1 hours pretty much (highlights to keep up with wwe stuff), with G1 it would have been well above 10 hours per week for the last month until around a week ago.
