That's super, super awful. By all accounts, he was one of the few actual good guys in the industry. RIP big man.

I’m at a complete loss of words, it was so out of no where. I thought he was off tv due to injury he sustained in the dog collar match?

It’s crazy how short life is. This man was just having the run of his entire career, leading a faction, having the time of his life.

I can’t believe it ...

That one hurt to read about. I was literally waiting on him to return and see what he would do next. R.I.P.

All Elite Wrestling - Discussion

Post#1169 » by AirCanadaMouse » Sun Dec 27, 2020 5:26 pm

They had his son last week on dynamite, he was in the crowd and they panned to him and openly said he was Brodie Lee’s son. They even had him pin Omega in an off air segment.

Cody’s return to beat Brodie for the title was super rushed too.

Also, he was in the mayo clinic being attended to. That just doesn’t happen randomly, that is for serious issues.

His status was super secret according to Meltzer. Maybe this wasn’t as random as I thought, maybe aew knew more than i realize.

I understand it’s not right to speculate so much at this moment, but I can’t help it. He was literally in the midst of his best run.

Now anytime I watch his matches I wonder how sick he really was, lung issues not related to Covid. That stuff doesn’t come out of no where then.....

Look at his comments post Dog Collar Match, he said he couldn’t do any workouts on the peloton. He would blow it way too quickly.

That is a huge red flag looking back, when people just say as ring rust or someone tired off a gruelling match.

Sad news indeed

I thought at the time the title change from Cody to Lee made no sense, they could just have Cody do his filming and not defend, I mean its not like darby has defended it at all. But now, man, I'm glad Huber got that dominant win and a title reign.

Good show. They did well honoring Brodie the way that they did.

Jericho was great on commentary, as he usually is.

MJF being a heel to Brodie jr. was unexpected. Not complaining though.

Erick Redbeard/Rowan making an appearance was cool. Wonder if he’s going to sign there or if it was just a one off?

Anna Jay has a great look. Beautiful woman, looks like an athlete — she’s just green in the ring.. and probably can’t talk either. But the potential is obviously there. I’m interested to see how she develops in AEW, because I think she’d be a star in WWE with their developmental system.

They need to stop using Sting in this fashion — at least this frequently. What’s it been ? 5 weeks of the same exact thing now ? Make him feel like a big deal by not having him come out every week and do the same thing. What am I missing if I miss his segment ? Nothing because he did it last week.

Loved the show, loved how the heels put over Brodie while maintaining some realism.

Kingston for example, “the dark order is nothing without Brodie”, put over Brodie so well.

This whole show has really cemented me as a fan, just a classy company.

MJF vs. Brodie JR is going to be an amazing feud in 10-15 years. Well done planting that seed, I loved it. MJF gets it.

I had an itch in my eyes that I had to rub several times - well done by AEW. Very glad to see Eric Rowan involved.

Watched parts of it, and most on Wednesday night but decided to see the end to see Darby/Sting and the end to the show. Man I'm not around anyone right now but someone must have cut onions in here before or something. Just....what a great tribute. RIP, and thoughts and prayers to his family, its so rare for everyone to be so unanimous in saying quite how awesome a person was.

Wow this was a first class tribute by AEW and really an eye opening interesting show...

First of all shout out to Colt Cabana under murky conditions he stepped the F*uck up brought
his "A" Game and delivered for his lost friend. I popped for his effort well done.

Someone mentioned it earlier but I've also got my eye on this Anna Jay chick not only is she
hot but she's got some potential in the ring but is still super green.

When Chris Jericho says "we'll take care of his family I promise" believe him he's the same guy that took
care of Chris Benoits other son when everyone else abandoned him. Brodie Lee Jr. is gonna be ok. Jericho
really added a jolt to the show and provided some energy and did it in the perfect balance of also being
respectful.

Had a vison during the Taz stable match... I think Brian Cage and Will Hopson could be a money Tag-Team
they just need to completely invest in their presentation like L.O.D. not saying wear spikes or paint your
face but come up with some bad ass cool costumes with a banger entrance theme and then let them destroy
everyone for a year or so. You can develop their characters before you break them into singles stars down
the line I don't even know if they need Taz do the talking for them. Ricky Starks is an odd pairing with them
and there is no chemistry I'd break him and Taz away from them.

No offense to Edge but that Erick Rowan run in was the moment of the year for me and if you're like come on
now that's extreme watch that segment back and check out Brodie Lee Jr. expression on his face that kid was
so happy to see him. We always talk about how modern wrestling is missing the "cool" factor but this segment
made me feel something that's been lost and almost forgotten about in Wrestling and that's "magic". Also
the "surprise" factor so many surprises are always leaked and get ruined but when they go out of their way
to keep surprises like Sting, Hardy at WM, Brocks return from UFC etc your produce memorable legendary
moments that get pops.

That last segment with Tony Khan was pure class. I'm not an emotional guy there's been so many deaths
lately and so many tragedies in wrestling at this point it's hard to feel anything anymore but that last segment
got me a little choked up. It was so strange to feel emotions watching wrestling again it's unfortunate it was
under these circumstances. It was actually refreshing to see humans actually legit care about each other and
work together for a change.

And lastly I've thought the Dark Order was embarrassing and cringe from day 1 a dead gimmick with no upside
but good god almighty Brodie Lee Jr. is that one in a million person to get that stable over :)

Thought this was a pretty good show.

The 4 v 4 tag match to kick off the show was pretty good. For the first time, I wasn’t really annoyed by The Acclaimed. Quality match.

Cody w/ Snoop vs Matt Sydal was a good, back and forth match. Snoop’s antics after the match was pretty funny as well.

Didn’t really care for the Abadon vs Shida match, but I’m just glad Abadon didn’t win. Not saying she doesn’t have a place on the women’s roster, but she’s not near good enough to be champion.

Omega vs Fenix was a great match, perhaps soured only by the fact that we knew there was no way in hell Fenix was going to win. Otherwise, the creativity, aerial moves and false finishes were great. The Good Brothers showing up post match and (re)forming the Bullet Club with the Young Bucks was interesting. Only thing I’ll say is that the show is very faction-heavy, but I’m excited to see where this angle goes nonetheless.

Yeah very solid episode of Dynamite. Never did I feel like it was dragging and channel turning. The end was a nice cliffhanger to see how things play out next week and beyond. How does Mox combat that many people?

Yo, Fenix is GOAT

And you think Mox will lead an AEW-Impact faction with Swann and MCMG?

All Elite Wrestling - Discussion

Post#1180 » by AirCanadaMouse » Thu Jan 7, 2021 2:37 pm

Great episode, just very enjoyable from top to bottom. Fun matches all around.

- Acclaimed actually had a nice rap for once, I like this SCU stipulation, Kaz deserves a singles run, and with the Bucks solidified heel turn, this is a good way to end the SCU team. I wouldn’t mind SCU building up wins and having them lose at the PPV for the title and thus ending their team.

- Wardlow vs. Hager was awesome, both have legit mma backgrounds and love how they used it. Loved this match, honestly was made for me, lol.

- PvP segment with Snoop and Matt, a little shot towards WWE. I dig it. They had snoop play a small role , got the gin and juice reference out the way and advanced a storyline. well done, warming up to Matt as a heel now.

- Sting shows up again to point at Tazz, this weigh in stuff was non sense given their sizes. This was the only down moment of the show. Sting needs to be used better and more sparingly.

- Marko Stunt just absolutely sucks.

- Cody vs. Sydal was an awesome match too. They didn’t over do it with Snoop post match too, and thought his splash on a jobber was just fine. Doesn’t hurt anyone on the card unlike when wwe had him beat Curtis Axel silly.

- aew women’s match!!! Well done, and amazing job by the commentary making the Abadon gimmick believable and not insulting the audience. I’ve loved this feud, I love abandon’s gimmick, and Shida is amazing. She makes everyone look so good despite lack of in ring skill.

- Fenix / Omega was even better than I was expecting, what an amazing match, one of the best in dynamite history. And that ending was just so amazing, I felt like aew has missing these moments where they close out on a huge ending, but they really delivered here

Loved it!
