That effing blows. Her injury is only 6-8 weeks and wouldn't have missed a single takeover. Hopefully she immediately gets the Raw or Smackdown belt then and runs the gauntlet there

It doesn't sound like the injury is the reason. It's probably a work, to be honest. I think they just wanted to keep her undefeated streak going as she went to the main roster.

The NXT women's roster should have a separate smaller tournament and the winner of that should face the winner of the Mae Young Classic at the Survivor Series TakeOver for the title. Seems fair to girls like Ember, Ruby, Nikki, etc.

Agree, it would be pretty unfair to hand it to the winner of a tourney that the others weren't included in. I guess the counter point to that would be that pretty much every girl on the NXT roster has had a chance against Asuka and failed.

All the more reason Asuka should've dropped the title to Ember at Takeover. It wouldn't hurt her at all, especially since she is legit injured.

I think it's obvious that they plan to continue her winning streak on the main roster, which they couldn't have done if she had lost at Takeover. I don't think the loss really hurt Ember, either. That was an incredible match, and I think Ember has more than gained the respect of the fans at this point and proven herself a credible future champion.

I would love to see a story where Asuka goes undefeated until Wrestlemania next year, beating everyone in her path, including all four Horsewomen. This caused the GM of whatever show she's on at the time to sign Ember Moon from NXT, as Ember came the closest to beating Asuka of anyone she ever faced. Then, Ember finally gets her redemption at 'Mania and takes the title from Asuka.

I think when Rousey is ready she'll dethrone her. As I've said before, if they continue to make Asuka the monster, her vs Rousey could main event Mania.

if Rousey is ready then, then that makes for a very intriguing matchup

I'll believe it when I see it with Rousey because I don't think she'll ever be able to be in a spot like that. This isn't a mixed tag with Rock and HHH and Stephanie where Rock and HHH wrestle 95% of the match and she arm-bar's Stephanie for the win or even a 4 horsewomen vs 4 horsewomen match where she does a few things but Bayszler handles the lion's share of the match for her team. I don't think she's ever going to get to the point where she can have a 20 minute compelling, competitive match. So many reasons to believe it isn't going to happen for me to believe it is.

Rousey has been training in California with Brian Kendrick for an undisclosed amount of time now. It's possible she could just not get it, but she has many things going for her. First is that she is already a world class athlete and knows how to be a character while performing. UFC as is today is built around hype and big personalities. Second, she loves wrestling. I don't think this is a one off type deal where some rando celeb wants to get a quick pay day. She's a lifelong fan and that goes a long way in wanting to succeed vs someone like an Eva Marie or Cameron. I think back to how bad Charlotte was when she debuted in NXT and in a few years she became the GOAT. Not saying that will happen with Rousey, but she has enough of the important stuff to be great with some seasoning.

I just can't see her doing the houseshow circuit and would probably see her getting a Lesnar type deal. Unless I guess she falls head over heels for the business

If you asked me does she at some point have a match in WWE, I'd say yes. I think the 4 horsewomen match happens or maybe just Bayszler and Ronda vs probably Charlotte and Becky. But I don't think she'll ever be full-time or even on the Brock schedule. I'm sure she's doing some training but I don't know how extensive it is. I heard an interview with Shayna Bayszler a couple weeks ago where she seemed to describe Ronda as someone who seems almost aimless and is looking for that next direction in her life. She's also 30, which isn't that old but is on the older side for starting a wrestling career, her MMA fights have gone relatively short but she's still got a good amount of wear and tear on her body. She's a millionaire many times over and even though her acting star has diminished significantly she's still got some opportunities in that area. And she just got married and she's talked about wanting to start a family.

If in three years I'm eating my words, great. But right now, she's at such a nascent stage and there's so many reasons to believe that she's never going to make the type of commitment needed to be in a spot like that. So, talking about her and Asuka at WM is beyond premature

Great NXT this week. Solid women's match between Ruby and Peyton. Fun squash for Heavy Machinery. Great main event between Roode and Strong. One of Roode's best matches in NXT.

Looking forward to seeing what they do with Cole and his posse going forward.

NXT has lost a lot of spark for me. These three guys who have just come in, I have no idea who they are. I don't care for the current champ. Asuka was great fun, but she's gone now too.

NXT will always have up and down periods. It takes time to build new stars, and once they are over with the crowds they move to RAW or Smackdown starting the cycle again.

McIntyre being his first opponent is perfect for Cole. His main, for lack of a better word, weakness is his size. He's a great talker and a very, very good wrestler and carries himself like a star. But he is listed at 5'11 and that's probably generous by a couple inches. HBK, arguably the greatest performer ever, is he only guy to really have sustained success as a heel in WWE. And not only is Cole on the short end but he's not a big guy like Owens or Joe either. McIntyre has probably 7-8 inches and 60-70 lb's on him. If Cole can be convincing both on the mic and in the ring against him, then the sky's the limit for him.
