The only thing I’ll say is this… Punk just debuted not 3 weeks ago and you’ve already debuted Bryan and Cole on the same night. I think TK has mastered the art of bringing in the big surprise/reveal, but has a long way to go in terms of figuring out what comes thereafter. Gotta let these returns/debuts breathe and develop for awhile.

But with that being said, again, I’m very content with this PPV and excited as hell that they’re in AEW now.

I saw on reddit that their next big debut could be around their Halloween show - Bray Wyatt.

Also, I could be mistaken but think I read that Danielson was set to not debut for a few weeks, but they wanted a live crowd and weren't sure with COVID in NY.

Completely forgot about the BC connection with Cole. This whole time I was thinking he's just there for Britt and thinking how he'll fit in. Damn. Wonder when they'll bring up Cole's send off by the Youngbucks.

Gotta say, even if Vince isn't taking over NXT, even that brand isn't comparable with what AEW has now.

Maybe, maybe not. Yet to be seen if fans will travel with Cole and Bryan.

I thought the show was good and better than most of what WWE offers, but at times (a lot of them) it still looks and feels like WWE-lite. If it feels like that to me, it's probably going to feel the same to those who tune in for the first time.

I'm rooting for them and I hope this results in a sustained increase in ratings/business but I'm skeptical.

WWE still has the best collection of talent in the world but their inability to tell more than 1 coherent story at a time is going to be their downfall. Well, that and their business practices.

I think it’s close between AEW and WWE now in terms of who has the better collection of talent. Punk, Bryan, Cole, Christian, Omega, Jericho, Hangman, MJF, Cody, Darby/Sting, Miro, Moxley and a few other names I’m leaving out, I think that that group of guys more than stands up to WWE’s roster — especially factoring in that some of WWE’s biggest names/needle movers are part timers (Lesnar, Cena, Goldberg).

Again... maybe, maybe not. If this board existed in 2006 we'd be saying the same thing. And their stock price has 5x'd since then.

When it comes to WWE being overtaken, I'll believe it when I see it.

This isn't 2006, every move that WWE makes now is heavily publicized and criticized to the point that their own sponsors and USA network are complaining about the product. I don't think they'll fold but I do think there's a very good chance that they lose their current grasp as the top wrestling company in the world in the eyes of both viewers and talent.

I don't know, I love AEW's talent but I don't think it's that close right now. Obviously WWE doesn't use their entire roster well, like at all, but if you go to wwe.com and just scroll through their superstars, it's absolutely nuts how many great guys they have.

Yea WWE just wastes a ton of guys.

But that's the big challenge that we still need to see. With this big injection of big name talent, can you prevent some of your other guys from getting lost in the shuffle?we're kind of seeing that now with guys like Lance Archer and Sammy Guevara. I mean hell, last night's PPV featured the big show vs Q.T. Marshall. IMO that's a pre-show match. In that slot they should've had Brian Cage vs Ricky Starks. Kind of a head scratcher there.

WWE certainly has an amazing roster on paper, but they've really only got about six guys that are worth a damn because they've spent years sabotaging everyone else.

All the new AEW signees seem so happy and at peace.

It occurred to me yesterday that it feels like WWE’s modus operandi is “you are lucky to be here” whereas AEW’s is “we are lucky to have you.”

Khan isn’t doing anything special, just something we’re not used to seeing. He’s a fan of the product who is treating his talents with respect and compensating them well while not overworking them and giving the fans what they want in long term storylines.

"We are lucky to have you"

That's a nice way of putting it.

And I appreciate TK always giddy during press conferences with his new recruits.

It's almost as if WWE's strategy of booking like they hate their viewers is a bad idea.

Also, to be fair, they had Danielson slated to come out later in the year. This happened because of covid and they were worried about restrictions at the NY show they were going to bring him out. They have said before they wanted space and time to introduce everyone. But with restrictions possibly effecting that. They did the best they could with the timing.

Didn't notice on first watch til it was pointed out, and apparently Ruby Soho and Bryce Remsburg go back a ways but her reaction and smiling and yelling "Hi Bryce!" after winning was a cool moment.

Apparently WWE's last pitch to Cole (to get him to stay) was to debut him on Smackdown as a heel manager... Vince also said to not consider Danielson or Cole as big loss. Seems like a weird thing to say about a dude that was in your WM main event 6 months ago and a guy in Cole who Vince and Pritchard both met with to get to stay within the last week. Some heavy PR spins coming out of WWE.
