Sami Callihan is a dumb name. If his name was Crowe on the indies, and it was changed to Sami, everyone would be going LOL NXT NAME GENERATOR.

Not to be the downer, but I wonder if we've seen the peak of NXT and we're at the point now watching the slow erosion. Who knows how much longer Kevin Owens will be around but I can't imagine it'll be much longer. Rumor is that Joe's main roster bound as well. Sami Zayn is supposed to be back in October and I imagine he'll spend some time there but I doubt it'll be that long. Finn Balor I'm guessing will on the main roster within a calendar year as well. Tyler Breeze is knocking on 5 years in developmental and he's still fairly young but I imagine he's gotta be getting a little impatient as well. I think there's a really good chance that a year from now all 5 of them are on the main roster, and a really, really good chance a year from now all but Breeze are on there. And to replenish that, its they've got Uhaa Nation, they'll almost certainly have Itami back. Beyond that though, Solomon Crowe like Chris Hero hasn't quite clicked, Baron Corbin still looks really mechanical.

Maybe I'm completely wrong, because there's certainly ways to rectify this issue. There's a lot of really talented guys out there, Johnny Gargano was supposedly in for a try-out. Beyond him, Adam Cole, ACH, Cedric Alexander are all really talented guys that are all under 30. And there's a lot, a lot of other guys I don't know or am not thinking of. If TNA is indeed not long for this world maybe you bring in Aries, Roode and a few others on those deals Joe has or had. And maybe some of the guys like Corbin, Mojo Rawley, Jason Jordan, or Chad Gable really pick it up and are able to pick up the mantle of the above guys.

According to rumors, when Zayn comes back in October it will be to continue his feud with Owens, but on the main roster. Zayn's return could be pretty epic if they do it right.

I definitely see what you're saying about the NXT roster. When you watch the weekly show it's really bolstered by a very specific group, and again according to rumors, that's partly because the rest of their people in developmental just aren't progressing as quickly as they would like. In addition to the guys you already mentioned, I think we also see Enzo and Cass (probably with Carmella but only as a valet until she improves) on the main roster when they do their call ups after the next Mania.

To add on to the guys who they could potentially bring in, Rich Swann was in for a lengthy tryout a few months ago. I'm not sure if anything ever materialized from it though.

Would love to see Swanny doing his thing on an NXT roster. Looking at the points Safi brought up makes me wonder again what happened with Willie Mack and why that didn't workout. He could have been a guy they could center things around for a minute till the rest of the greenies caught up.

good size. good worker. unique look. can play both sides of the coin and flys a little.

We don't know the specifics but I think its pretty clear that something showed up in Willie Mack's medical reports that made them rescind there contract offer. It happened to Nigel McGuinness, it happened to Cesaro in 2006.

Another name that could be out there soon, really soon is Austin Aries. Apparently his contract is up sometime around the end of this month and there were those rumors that WWE was looking at signing some top TNA guys for NXT he could've been the guy that those rumors revolved around.

Looking at Uhaa Nation, on one hand I'm really excited to see him but the fact that he's being put on NXT TV essentially immediately after being signed ahead of literally 100 people that are in NXT but not on TV, obviously he comes in with a level of bonafides that they didn't enter with, but for him to immediately pass people that have been in NXT for a year or more has to be concerning for the future of that show and the present and future of NXT as a developmental facility.

as much as i love Uhaa. i wonder about the adjustment period he'll need. Will he be able to connect with the audience outside of this his in-ring work? he's not a mic marvel or anything and his character needs work. His look and athleticism are his saving graces right now. I know Gable needs something now that Shoot Nation fell through and he's pretty solid with the stick. I'd like to see him get a shot.

On the Aries point. You think he'll step into the NXT gig looking to stick there long term or looking to main show it sooner rather than later?

I'm sure he'll do fine on NXT especially initially since he's seemingly going to be playing such a straight forward babyface character. I think the question is will we see an upside that 6 months or a year down the line he will be almost fully ready.

I doubt Aries would make it to the main roster, as good and as polished as he is WWE probably looks at it as we have guys that are younger that do what he does. I imagine he'll probably get the Joe deal and if he has a future it'll be as a trainer and/or commentator.

The Joe deal makes sense for several guys, including AJ and Aries. Also, Aries would be a great commentator if that is in his future.

Rumours that WWE is about to buy Evolve or "more specifically, WWN."

Some in that thread are saying it'll be the AA to NXT's AAA.

But I really know nothing about Evolve/WWN.

Joe is low on cardio these days. He cuts a good promo though.

The Finn Balor feature was fantastic.

And Alexa... perfect as always.

Spoiler:
How it plays out on TV might be different but if you see the way the most recent set of tapings concludes it certainly reads like it was Charlotte's swan song.

There's apparently 3 ROH guys WWE is interested in: Moose, Adam Cole and Jay Lethal. The first 2 names shouldn't surprise anyone, if you told me there are 2 guys currently wrestling outside WWE that will one day main event a Wrestlemania Moose and Adam Cole are who I'd pick. Moose is still pretty green but he's improving at a pretty rapid rate and Vince McMahon would absolutely love him. I look at him and Baron Corbin and they're the same size and have similar backgrounds pre-wrestling but Moose appears to be a far better athlete. Adam Cole is 5'11 and I bring that up because that's really the only thing I would think could be viewed as a negative, he's as complete a prospect as you'll find.

Jay Lethal is the interesting name. Of those 3 Lethal may have the lowest ceiling but also the highest floor. With Cole, he plays an incredible straight-forward heel but unless you put him in a high-profile position (which he absolutely should be), he's not super dynamic and he's the kind of guy that if you throw him out there in filler segments and matches and regularly beat him he can quickly become just another guy. Moose while having all the potential in the world is still pretty green. Lethal though, I'm a big fan of his but I'll admit to being somewhat surprised by how good he's been in his new heel character. I'm just not sure WWE would see much in him with that. But I think the first time you showed Vince McMahon black machismo or his Ric Flair impression he'd be sold. And I think there's a fairly high floor for him as the next Santino except he's a significantly better wrestler than Santino.

My feeling is Lethal's great for organizations like ROH and TNA, but he's not quite WWE material - unless he's part of a tag team. He's very skilled and fun to watch, but he doesn't have the pure talent that Cole has. I remember when he teamed with Xavier Woods (Consequences Creed at the time) in TNA and thought they were very underrated as a team and should have stayed together.

No one mention this? The next NXT special the night before Summerslam

Spoiler:
JUSHIN "THUNDER" LIGER WILL BE AT NXT TAKEOVER: BROOKLYN! Never thought I see the day that Liger in the WWE ring!

Spoiler:
Really big news. Its crazy, a year ago if you asked me who the two biggest post-territory era stars to never step foot in a WWE ring are I'd say its Liger and Sting and now both will.

Other thoughts from the spoilers of the next few weeks of NXT: Bayley's going to face Sasha for the NX Women's Ttitle, that looks like it'll be her big moment. It wasn't made explicitly clear but it looks like it'll be Blake and Murphy vs The Vaudevillains for the tag titles. I think this is a big mistake. This night, in Brooklyn, should be Enzo and Cass' night to be crowned. Unless they're headed up to the main roster post-Summerslam there's no good reason for them not to win the titles. Joe is going to face Baron Corbin. I'm so fascinated to see who goes over here. Corbin's not undefeated, although I think he's only lost that one time to Neville, which was a little screwy. But he has been incredibly protected and Joe, let's be honest here, has been a slight disappointment. I think very little of it is his fault. I think he's done everything they've asked of him at a high level. But, they've done very little character development and they seem to assume that everyone that watches NXT knows who Joe is. So, there's some logic behind Corbin winning. But if they believe that Joe has any value on the main roster or even as an NXT main eventer, he has to win this match. Because him losing his first big match kind of establishes him ass essentially Rhyno as the jobber to the main eventers. And Corbin, I don't think will be on the main roster until 2017.

Okada V Cena would be tremendous. A good taste of what this version of Okada could do in the states with the right push.
