Looks like Edge broke his leg. That's the main reason why his latest WWE run was mostly a flop..... He can never stay healthy

Letting edge just do what he wants is why he got hurt.

Man where can I start this company has been a mess. The angles are horrid. They killed swerve so bad they have to get that belt off him. Osprey just drew 112,000 viewers on a the b show. The video game is free on ps plus lol. And to top that off no TV deal in sight even though it's been days away for 6 months.

The AEW title has been overshadowed all of 2024. It never felt like Samoa Joe was the #1 guy of the show, at Revolution the big match was Sting retirement match, at Dynasty it was Bryan Ospraey, at Double or Nothing Swerve facing a 50 year old who's character is getting a little old in between Edge/Black, Mone/Willow and Anarchy in the Arena didn't really feel that big. They put midcard belts on such big names like Edge, Okada and Ospraey that it's hard for world title to be as meaningful.

One of the most interesting comments I've heard about booking is Cornette made it sound like he was doing it, they intentionally didn't want the early matches to steal the show as kind of a 4D chess move to get main eventers who actually sell merch and tickets to get more over. I don't know if that would apply as much in 2024 but it's somewhere in the middle probably. Remember the stupid Greatest Match of All Time Orton vs Edge thing? The rest of the card is Lashley vs McIntyre, Sheamus vs Hardy, Strowman vs Miz and Morrison, Nia Jax in the women's match, etc., they knew what they were doing not putting an AJ or Bryan match on there, they guaranteed Orton/Edge was the best match of the night. You look at AEW where everyone is trying to have 5 star Meltzer jerk off matches at all times and you can see how it hurts them. Swerve vs Joe was never going to be as good a match as Danielson/Ospraey or Okada/Pac. It ends up feeling like the HHH vs Jericho after Hogan vs Rock.

Disaster rating this week

NXT 0.26
Dynamite 0.16

Dynamite beat it 0.28 to 0.22 two weeks ago and 0.23 to 0.22 a week ago so not sure why it was so low this week (Juneteenth?), plus NXT was unusually high... But Ouch.

People seem to think it was the Kendrick Lamar live concert. Which yea, when the demographic is young men, that makes a lot of sense why it cut into ratings.

Why is Jericho's Learning Tree stablemates veteran guys like Bill Bill and Bryan Keith (although the latter is about halfway between Starks and Guevara's age). They should've given him <25 guys like the Martin bros or something.

I like how this El Phantasmo guy wrestles in New Japan as a Logan Paul clone, it's like their version of Indian/Bulgarian/etc. heel stereotypes in American wrestling.

Forget Forbidden Door.

For anyone who hasn't seen the Jeff Jarrett YouTube thing on the Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

Find it.

Mercedes and Vaquer at Forbidden Door had to be one of the better AEW's women matches

Moxley and Naito dropped a deuce

I really liked how Ospreay sold the "the match is over, but I'm gonna stumble on my feet for another minute" ending.

I'm gonna say a lot of the tv audience found Page vs Jarrett more compelling than Danielson vs Pac and Ospreay vs Garcia (not counting the aftermath) which both got 4.5 stars from Meltzer. I wonder if Tony realizes that.

Marquee match between Mercedes and Baker for the women's title while after Mariah beats Willow for TBS belt #1 contender she can have midcard champ run to take step forward. Oh wait... I seem to have that backwards.

Collision is spending the next 6 weeks in more of an NXT sized e sports arena in Texas. Probably not a great sign, but I thought it was a cool atmosphere and made it feel different than Dynamite.

Mercedes should've been by far their biggest female star and was paid like it but has done 2 matches in 6 months, leaving only giving fake/bad promos and managing an up and coming muscle. Will end up back in WWE.

They're very WCW-esque.... In the way they just throw money aimlessly at anyone but never have a good plan for them.

They did good with Edge, but par for the course, Edge got hurt. That's the reason why his WWE comeback was mostly a flop, hes too injury prone these days.

It's insane when you write it out, I just made a list of the most important singles wrestlers in AEW when healthy and guys like White and Pac are like 19th/20th. Claudio, Strong, Rush, Briscoe are quality workers outside the top 20. Pac and White are protected in the sense that they're not going to lose random singles matches on Dynamite, it generally has to be for a title or a tournament or something. You don't have to protect your 20th singles guy lol. Tony wants to make a show for the sickos so why are they watching stars face the fking Butcher or Tony Nese 6 mans.. you could open Collision with an unadvertised Claudio vs Rush match and you're not even making one of your top 20 guys job!

Swerve vs Page is an awesome feud

I liked the Wrestledream main event and pulling the trigger on Moxley as champion as not a technical wrestler or flippy guy but is a good storytelling move. I think they will make Ospreay get the big babyface title win over him win in 3 or 4 months or at next year All In at the latest but I don't think they should. With getting embarrassed in the ratings going head to head with NXT last week they need to start targeting the audience that isn't as driven by the Meltzer bait matches.

Damn Shelton feels different in a company where he has big man size, that was like a Brock match. Lio Rush 10/10 selling.
