Why does WWE have this thing against masked wrestlers?

No idea, especially considering one of their biggest stars of the past 15 years has been masked the whole time.

I'm watching NXT for the first time in months...maybe it's a crappy episode but I'm bored and I'm not
impressed at all with this new talent I've heard hyped up.

I can't say I'm surprised.

Really liked the main event last night. Had a big fight feel to it. That running drop kick that sent Itami into the corner was brutal.

Pretty good final line from Stroud on the main event...

"This was so good. I’m going to watch it again and pretend Alex Riley’s voice is some kind of production error."

Riley is getting worse and worse as a commentator. It almost seems like maybe he's doing it intentionally so that they'll let him go back to being an in-ring performer.

The idea they have for the new Kalisto character is really stupid. Having said that, if they took off the mask and gave him a new character (as long as it was decent) I wouldn't think it was the worst idea in the world. I've been really unimpressed by him since he started and I don't know if taking off the mask is the fix but as long as he has the mask the obvious comparison is going to be made to Rey and I have no reason to believe he can live up to that. Taking off the mask might be his only chance.

I was wondering how legit that was, considering how horrible the idea is. Makes me wonder if the Neville "mighty mouse" gimmick rumor came from the same source. Probably some semi-legit insider just trolling the iwc.

i would be absolutely ecstatic if both were false and they were leaving all call-ups as is.

Looked ok. You can tell he's still learning but he didn't embarrass himself by any means. Neville did a good job working with him. The conclusion was pretty cool IMO. Had a very old school feel to it.

I could see the Neville story being a lost in translation type of situation. Talking about Neville as this ultimate underdog type character and someone brings up Mighty Mouse as an example of that and that's run with.

The Kalisto story didn't sound believable and good to know it wasn't. I still maintain that if they keep him with his current character the comparisons to Rey are undeniable and he's not going to be able to live up to that.

It was a lot better then I thought it was going to be but I'm not very high on Corbin. I like his finisher and the way they're building him up, though.

As far as just doing flippy ****, Kalisto is pretty awesome at that stuff so I think he could hold his own there. The problem he might have is his size. According to wikipedia, Kalisto and Rey are both 5'6". But Kalisto looks about 5'2" in the ring. I remember Rey looking small back in the WCW days, but never quite as small as Kalisto. Kalisto also doesn't really do a ton other than flippy ****, so unless he expands his repertoire he's not going to go far.

Part of it is just timing. Rey was doing stuff no one, at least no one in America, had seen before. And its hard for Kalisto to do that because we've seen so much since then. I don't think size is a huge part of it, what I think is a bigger part of it is that one of the reasons Rey became the biggest star among all those luchadores is Rey knew how to work as effectively with big guys as he did with the fellow luchadores and I haven't seen the evidence that Kalisto can do that. Plus Rey had that intangible x-factor, charisma that's hard to find. Sami Zayn has it, its a big part of why he's going to be such a big star. And I've seen no reason to believe Kalisto has that and as long as he keeps the mask the comparison's inevitable and I've seen no reason to believe he can live up to it.

I had heard about Enzo and his crew but last night was my first time seeing them and man are they Over! I know some people won't like it on the main roster but man I hope they make it someday.

This video package for the Zayn vs. Owens match is pretty incredible. This feud should be happening on the main roster.

They've built something special in just a few weeks. Masterful booking and execution.

Owens has been brilliant as the aloof manipulator. Sami has portrayed vulnerability in a believable and relatable way. The heel-babyface dynamic is strong, and despite Owens’ obvious cool-factor, the crowd will be firmly on Sami’s side come Wednesday.

Regal has also played a significant role. His exasperation with Owens’ brash behavior and audacity, and hesitation to allow himself to be manipulated, has been a great counterpoint to Sami’s irrational need to fight.

I love it all.
