Re: WWE SmackDown Discussion II
When he debuted as the Ringmaster he was very cocky and arrogant it was his character from day 1.
If we take a Hot Tub time Machine back to June 1996 guys like Marc Mero were considered up and coming
rising stars, Jake Roberts still had major name value from his previous run and was considered a legend.
Looking back at those names now they don't seem that impressive but at the time winning a KOTR was
kind of a big deal.
As for Becky what did she do or who did she beat for the sudden character change? Even when she clocked
Charlotte and the fans went nuts she lost the match. Her big tittle match with Auska she lost.
Storyline wise she's more of the lovable loser who seems jealous/fed up of being Charottes bitch or being in her shadow.
I don't get what she's done to be the cocky bad ass that people are supposed to be intimidated by?

She did beat Charlotte like 3 or 4 times in a row. The original idea was that Becky was sick and tired of being a loser and she became more aggressive in attitude. But then the fans tried to compare her to Stone Cold because she wore black and started being more aggressive or something. Plus most of the current crowds are 30-40 something males who are nostalgic for Stone Cold STILL.
I don't think the WWE sees her as the female Stone Cold. They may allude to aspects of it to play to those fans who think so, but they haven't booked or portrayed her as such. She's more comparable to CM Punk. Sort of a whiner, someone who constantly feels she's held down by outside forces, and plays to smarks in her promos/social media.
That's the big difference, Stone Cold wasn't whiny. Becky has at every turn talked about every slight against her. This helped rally her fans by her side but it separates her from Stone Cold in this respect.
She has also been more smug, whereas I can't recall Austin ever being described as "smug". Angry and DGAF yes, but not smug. HHH, he was smug. Rock, he was arrogant.
Another similarity with CM Punk is she lacks the athleticism of her peers. CM Punk was a great worker, but he was not really smooth or athletic. You could buy him winning matches based on his will or work ethic but he wasn't an asskicker in the ring simply because he was usually outmatched in size or athleticism. Becky is the same. She's not as big and athletic as Charlotte. She's not as quick and smooth as Asuka. She doesn't have the acrobatic ability or power of a Sasha or Bayley.
Becky cannot be anything but an underdog against Ronda at this point. Ronda is a world-class athlete with combat training. You cannot tell a story of Becky being as comparable to Stone Cold against Ronda Rousey.
Ultimately, the company is riding Becky because she's so over with crowds right now and she is the plan they have committed to.

Still don't know why they haven't put Luke Harper with Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan yet. No one is gonna take Erick Rowan seriously without him.

I think they're already taking him seriously enough for a heater. Rowan and Harper don't need to be conjoined for their entire WWE careers.
Besides, Rowan reads Yuval Noah Harari now. He's not a Bludgeon Bruh anymore.

I wish they'd give Harper a singles push. Dude can wrestle. Set him loose against some of the smaller guys.

The booking of her vs. The McMahons is starting to get eerily similar to Austin vs. McMahon. It didn't really make sense
why Becky was being a bitch to them when they wanted her to see a doctor for her own best interest but now that Vince
has screwed her out of the WM match (for now) she has a reason to be pissed.
It was funny when Vince brought out Charlotte and said "I need someone with charisma for the main event" woof
As for CM Punk at least he was one of if not the best worker and mic worker at the time. I don't think Becky is top 10
in either category in the company right now.
I think their riding the wave with Becky but don't really get her big appeal as well and now with Charlotte in the match
Ronda doesn't have to take a clean L.
The rumors of Becky vs. Steph at SummerSlam really concern me last thing I want to see is another babyface vs. McMahons
drawn out feud lasting months and months.
I also hope Becky doesn't look like the weak link in the match at WM

Re: WWE SmackDown Discussion II
I think Becky is a very good worker when she is allowed to work HER type of match.
And she was also excellent in gimmick matches like LWS at Evolution and she was very good at TLC.
Slightly controversially, I also think Becky v Asuka at the RR was both women's best singles match on the main roster (in a non-gimmick match)
It is true that Becky's best matches were with top workers, but it takes two to tango. I think she is quite underrated in the ring because she doesn't have flashy moves or athleticism compared to most women, but she has solid ring psychology and pacing. She won't lift up an inferior opponent but she can enhance an already good opponent. That is how I see her.

Re: WWE SmackDown Discussion II
There's no doubt she's solid but to be "The Man" or the face of the company don't you have to be the best or near
the top at something? If there was an I.C. Tittle for women she would be the champ for me but since she's so over
I can't complain about her being in the world tittle hunt just fun to question it and her skills.

Re: WWE SmackDown Discussion II
Well Cena wasn't the best wrestler during his time, just solid, and he was a FOTC. He was a very good promo though.
I think all the women lack something crucial to "build a company's main story" around. Becky is good enough both in the ring and on the mic, but there are certain situations where she can seem VERY outmatched on the mic and in the ring. Charlotte lacks the crowd empathy and charisma, but she is great in the ring and a solid promo. Ronda is great in the ring, but not great on the mic and her acting is stiff. Asuka's english is too dodgy, Sasha is both great and unreliable in the ring and on the mic, Bayley is a stiff actress, etc,.

Well, Alexa's matches are pretty much the definition of subpar and while she's a great and over TV personality, nobody is ever really interested in an Alexa match. She does ONE thing so much better than every other woman, though, and that's mic work.
Alexa, to me, is like the female Miz. Superior mic work. Funny and charismatic even. But you almost never look forward to their matches.

Re: WWE SmackDown Discussion II
It was always weird to see Alexa mowing down wrestlers bigger and more skilled than her clean. There's no way I can buy Alexa beating up Bayley clean in real life. Bayley is pretty damned solid and strong physically and a pretty skilled worker. Yet it happened.

Her cons are that she's small and isn't a very good worker.

We've literally spent the last five years with Roman Reigns as the face of the company and he's not top ten at anything. Hell, I don't think you could rank him top twenty in the company at either promos or wrestling.
Becky is far better as both a worker and a talker than Roman. She'll be fine.

Kofi is a pretty uninspiring choice for the Chamber.
He is fine in the ring but nobody is taking any of these guys seriously as singles competitors until they break up.
