Question About the Territorial Days

The Wrestling Draft made me researching a lot of old timers that I was totally unfamiliar with. I know about how things worked through the territories before Vince McMahon started buying them out, but I'm curious as to what the most popular regions were before then?
WWWF must've been very popular in the NE, Mid-Atlantic in Georgia and the Carolinas, Mid-South around Memphis, WCCW in Texas, AWA in Minnesota, but where else? Florida, NW, California I guess, but I'm not at all knowledgeable as to in which reasons wrestling was most popular.
My follow up question: How did wrestling styles differ? Texas put a larger influence on brawling? Emphasis on grappling in the NE and Minnesota regions? I recognize that we might all be too young to have a grasp on this, but I know some of you guys really know your history, so I thought I'd give it a shot.
