Goldberg Returning?

At this point, it's not that I want to get back in the ring, but I have a 3½-year-old little boy, and what an experience for him to still buy an action figure with his daddy represented? The doors are kind of open to negotiation as far as a merchandising deal. If it leads to something else? It's a wonderful day. It's not something that I'm seeking out to do at 43 years old. But you know, Wrestlemania is next year in Atlanta. Hulk Hogan and I put 43,000 people in the Georgia Dome with three days' notice. I've got a fairly big following in Atlanta. Is it out of the realm of possibility? I'd say no. If not, I'm totally content with the way I went out. To be able to get merchandise out there not only satiates the fans but hopefully there have been a lot of people wondering where my merchandise is. The reason why I want to do this is my boy; just trying to be a good father

But what does that mean exactly? How is wrestling 'being a good dad'? That only makes sense if the guy has no money.

He's saying that it would be really cool for his soon to have action figures with his dad on it. That seems to be his primary motivation behind doing this.

That's 'being a good dad' to Goldberg?

That's not what he said at all. He said it would be cool for his son to have action figures with his dad on it. Nothing about how that makes him a good or bad dad.

I'm all up for him in one more match...depending on whos it against. The man keeps himself in amazing shape for his age, I could see him doing one more match.

You're right I missed that. But you are also clearly cherry picking that statement. To me it seemed pretty clear that the quote was about his son being able to see an aspect of his dad's life that is so unique and that he was not able to experience. Based on the preceding part of the quote, it seemed like the point he was trying to convey with the "good father" comment was doing things to make your kids happy.

I guess I'm just a little too cynical to believe that. I read it as he's looking for a pay day. One more Wrestlemania match, plus he's already thinking about merchandising deals. I'm just not sure how much it really matters that a kid sees his father as an action figure. It's weird in relation to the 'good father' quote.

I'm a big fan of his, but you alluded to why I'm not all that fond of this. There isn't one guy in WWE who I really want to see him go up against. The Rock for instance, John Cena is an obvious opponent. Batista would seem like a good candidate, but that match has already happened. Some have mentioned Edge, but I don't really care about that too much.

The merchandising deal is the main aspect of this, the WM match is secondary and an ancillary aspect of the deal. I disagree completely about the kid seeing his father as an action figure. If my dad was famous and it happened before I was born, I'd want something current to remember it by.

I would have no problem with Goldberg coming back for a match or two, but more than that just doesn't seem to work IMO. Regardless of the way you think he works he had a big following.

Reading JR's blog, he thinks that if he signed on next season to work a match that he might get inducted to the HOF as well.
If he works a match at Mania next year, I could see it being vs. Taker or Cena. Best scenario I would say would be Taker to have a good storyline of Taker having the streak in tact still, while Goldberg was famous cuz of his streak as well.

His reasoning for leaving the first time made him look real bad IMO. Please do us wrestling fans a favor and don't come back, Goldberg.

Bingo. As long as they're not pushing Goldberg for a main event slot or for a title, I'm fine with it. But I don't want him back full time or anything like last time with him destroying everybody again.
A match at Mania would also show how bad Goldberg was/is in ring too, though. After two (overrated) matches with HBK at Mania, the Meltzer's of the world are gonna **** all over Goldberg and praise Taker like no other for actually making something watchable out of him.
