Nexus: From Zeroes to Heroes

I would say that until the NXT faction was formed, for the most part there wasn't a ton of excitement about the NXT guys, save for Daniel Bryan, Wade Barrett and mild excitement for David Otunga and Justin Gabriel. But since the initial attack a few weeks back, there is a huge love fest for the group. I'll admit I'm guilty of it myself. With the amount of flack people give the WWE writers and creative team, I think it's great that they seem to be doing great with this angle. Just when we thought they were going to kill off the entire angle and try to turn the group back to baby faces, the kids turn around and attack the freaking Chairman of the Board. In my opinion, this is one of (if not the) best angles that we've seen in the WWE in a very long time.
So where would you rank this NXT crew on the list of recent angles by the WWE?
I'm hard-pressed to think of one in recent memory that has been better.

I think the reason why everyone likes this angle so much is that its so different from anything the WWE has done in recent memory.
They've done some good stuff the past couple years, anything Jericho has done, both of the Taker-HBK feuds, Batista-Cena, Punk-Hardy has all been things that I think was very good. But it was all just well executed versions of the same thing we've been seeing.
But this was completely different from anything we've seen in a very long time and I think its piqued everyone's interest.

^ I'll even say the Hardy/McIntyre feud isn't that bad either. But the big thing about this angle is that its very nWo like. You never know when they will arrive and who they will attack. Just like the nWo they attack faces and heels, which I think is the best part.

Not only is it very nWo like, but it's exactly what Hall and Waltman did in TNA a few months ago.
Still though, it's keeping me entertained. They just need to keep everyone but Barrett off the mic.

I think Otunga is pretty good on the mic...maybe even better then Barrett. But I agree everyone else shouldn't touch the mic.

You think so? I thought Otunga was beyond boring. I mean he's well spoken and he seems comfortable on the mic, but I don't care what he's saying in the least.

I dunno he made me really buy into the "A list persona". I think with more ring work he will be the next big thing.

It's a shame I don't get to see Raw. They showed a large portion of Cena being attacked on Smackdown two weeks ago, and I thought it was enjoyable. I hope ratings benefit from this.

Anyone else see Michael Tarver having the potential to be a Bad News Brown type heel? He's been pretty decent on the mic lately and has the heel thing down to a T.

Yeah I was thinking that too...at first i thought Tarver as possibly the weakest link in Nexus but he's not so bad now.

Tarver's a great character and his mic work's been good, but he's terrible in the ring. That's pretty much everyone in the Nexus besides Justin Gabriel.

That storyline had so much potential. Higher power, new members joining, maybe some female members (if it weren't for the shi*ty division). The storyline really flopped and the whole Nexus angle eventually fizzled out when Punk did the legendary promo.

This is an oddball bump. Looks like Bryan and Sheffield have become legit superstars. Barretts been pretty 'meh' since being repackaged. Thought Gabriel had a good thing going with Tyson Kidd until Kidd got hurt. Tarver turned out bust and Otunga and Slater are burgers

Jericho recently started a podcast and one of his first guests was Edge. They talked about the 7-on-7 Summerslam match against Nexus. Apparently the finish was Cena's idea and Edge and Jericho were against the idea. Cena acknowledged he was wrong.
