Rey Mysterio a disappointment?

Post#1 » by Celtsfan1980 » Thu Jul 8, 2010 8:35 pm

Early in his career Mysterio was very unique for the industry and he had potential to become great. He's had a very successful Hall of Fame career but I don't feel he has lived up to his potential. Does anyone else feel this way?

I feel his knee injurys mixed with wwes tamer style and reys age in wwe have made him not what many thought he could be if he was in wwe
His matchs in wcw , ECW, and mexico where amazing
but by the time in made it to wwe he had alot of injurys
but he can pull an amazing match when he works withthe likes of jericho
He’s not (my-vydas), he’s not (your-vydas), he’s Arvydas

Mysterio is one of my least favorite wrestlers present day. Of all the complaints of matches being predictable, I think Mysterio is right up there with Cena as being the most predictable workers in the business. His matches don't excite me in any way and he's even worse than Cena when it come to cutting promos.

Exactly. I've always hated him with a passion. Never got the hype. But then again I don't really like any of the 'high flyers'. I think it's an overrated ability.

Rey's biggest problem, besides predictability, is that he got all roided up and moved up to fighting heavyweights. He can't work a believable looking match because he always looks so overmatched. Most of the time when he pulls off a move, you can't tell whether it's him on offense or the other guy.

Yep, I always say that to rey fans, he shouldn't have bulked up.

Rey in WCW was one of my favorites.
Rey in WWE is bleh.

Rey is still a great wrestler. But his WCW days were insane.

I liked watching him, but thought WCW's cruiserweight division would've been strengthened by giving some other luchadores an opportunity to shine. I haven't seen him much in WWE, but his best matches were earlier on, they became very predictable. Mysterio v Juventud Guerrera in ECW was soooo good.

Even that statement I disagree with. His matches with Eddie Guerrero in 1997 were some of the best of his career, but he had few memorable matches in the remainder of his WCW career after that. I thought even his WCW days 1998 and later were very disappointing for a wrestler of his talents.

Should've never roided up. He had a way better look when he was slim and had the tight leggings.

knee injuries got to him. I remember when he came back to WCW in Bash at the Beach 1998 from a knee injury, he wasn't the same as WCW 96 rey rey. With that said, I still think he's an awesome worker and a lucha legend, and still entertaining to me today
