"WWE veteran William Regal has announced his impending retirement at a live WWE event in London, England tonight after a decade of service to the company and 27 years preforming. Regal, 42 has been a mainstay with WWE since 2000 capturing a number of major championships such as the Intercontinental title (x2), World Tag Team title (x4) and two defunct titles the WWE Hardcore (x3) and European(x4). Regal also become a King of the Ring winner upon his return in 2008 and served as the Commissioner and General Manger for WWE programming.

Regal's career started at aged just 15 on the carnival circuit in Blackpool England. He teamed with Robbie Brookside achieving national success appearing on the highly popular ITV World of Sport. Regal's big break come in 1992 after he was signed to World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in which he spent seven years until a brief departure to WWE before returning to WCW in 1999. During his time in WCW he captured the Television championship four times. By 2000 he had left WCW and would begin his current decade long run with WWE.

Regal recently signed a 42 month contract with WWE until 2014 which suggests he will stay on with the company as a backstage official or agent. His retirement may not be effective immediate and he make complete his current storyline with Daniel Bryan. We will have more details soon."

There is also a video of the announcement on that link. He did say maybe, so perhaps he'll wrestle once more in England one day. I would imagine it would be a "One Night Only" type of deal.

Glad to hear his last feud could be with Daniel Bryan, CM Punk mentioned a few weeks ago that Regal had big hand in training him so I'm expecting a student/teacher type of storyline. Should be a good one however they approach it.

Let's hear it for Regal!

I was about to create a thread on this lol

Sad to hear it, but as long as he works backstage with young talent like Finlay does with the divas.

Regal is one of the best wrestlers in the company, and should have been doing more. I drafted him in the wrestling draft! (remember that)

He and Danielson could work a hell of a match. Hopefully it happens at a ppv.

If WWE bookers have any respect for Regal, they'll let him at least do a mid-card match against Danielson on one of the big 4 PPV's.

:(

That sucks. Though, I took Regal for granted when I was a kid. As I grew older I realized how good he actually is.

Hopefully they give him one last hurrah.

Regal is the man, and a pimp as well. Big loss to the company as another damn good wrestler hangs them up.

Regal had one of the many great books in wrestling. Kudos to him for eventually beating his massive drug addiction. Glad he was able to turn his life around and I'm glad WWE stuck with him through it. Lord knows they had ample reason to let him go. I agree that it would be a great sendoff to have him match up with Danielson at a ppv to finish off his career.

Edit: From reading his book I can remember him talking about those man's man vigenettes. He was about as far as gone on the drugs as he ever was at that point and it shows if you look at his non existent muscle definition.
